I wasn't sure if I would like these distress crayons as I usually use ink pads but when Abbi Kristen (paper flower maker extraordinaire!) said that she highly recommended them & I was tired of my ink pads drying out between uses, I decided to give these a try. Of course, I had to order EVERY set because you never know what you'll need when shading a project. I watched a YouTube video on how to use them (highly recommend you do same if ordering) & was able to quickly get the hang of using them to shade my paper flower petals & leaves. Now, I don't have to worry about my shading products drying out AND I have SO MANY colors to choose from!! I loved having a couple different stiff bristled brushes in flat & round shapes to use to additionally blend these crayons but your fingers work well too. I definitely recommend this product to anyone who enjoys doing shading on their paper crafts. I also think they would work with other medias although I haven't tried them on fabric or anything else. Since I do many types of crafts, I love that these crayons wait patiently, staying in pristine condition, for me while I'm busy filling apparel & tumbler orders. Then, when I get a moment to do some paper crafting or get an order for party/wedding decor, I can pull out the crayons & make an amazing paper flower backdrop for a venue with realistic looking flowers (due to the shading & shaping) in just a few days. Definitely recommend buying ALL the sets!! Can't go wrong with Tim Holtz!!

Easy to use, just add water to spread and create effects. Great for highlighting raised parts of embossed paper. I found I had to experiment to get the proper coverage for a project. Since each person has a different touch I try the crayon before committing to a "finished project". Even mistakes come out well. I also invested in the storage boxes. That was a good decision.

I love these. They are not hard to use. Just add color where you want and blend with your finger. You can make some cool backgrounds.

These crayons are great but it took me some time and practice to get use to blending with them since they act differently than other distress products. I use them gesso or the collage medium and they blend much easier for me that way.
