(4) Pot, CTS 500k Audio, Low Torque (.500" Bushing Length)
(1) Switch, Switchcraft 3-Way Toggle, Short Straight
(2) Treble Bleed Kit for Humbuckers
(2') Wire, 22 AWG Cotton Push Back w/ Tinned Overcoat, Black
(2') Wire, 22 AWG Cotton Push Back w/ Tinned Overcoat, White
(2') Wire, 22 AWG Single Conductor Braided
(2') Wire, 22 AWG Stranded Silver-Plated Copper, Black PTFE
(2') Wire, 22 AWG Stranded Silver-Plated Copper, White PTFE
(1) Professional, Fully-Illustrated Wiring Diagram
Please note: knobs & switch tip are not included. There are just too many options - we sell 12 varieties of Gibson-style knobs sets. Each includes four knobs plus a Switchcraft switch tip. The knobs will fit these 24-tooth pots correctly, and the switch tip is the right part for the Switchcraft switch included in this kit. Gibson knobs & switch tips fit our parts properly, but imported knobs and switch tips don't. So if you have knobs/tip that came off an Epiphone or other imported guitar (Tokai, Burny, PRS CE, etc), then you're going to need knobs.

I got this kit to rewire an Ibanez 335. The hardware and wire look to be very nice quality. I wanted a "vintage" wiring set-up but the directions only came with the modern wiring diagram. The directions said the vintage wiring was on their website but I couldn't find it. A google search later I had a generic vintage wiring diagram. I found a great video on wiring up a 335 and everything went smoothly. One complaint I have is that there is just enough shielded wire to do the job with no room for error. I ended up ordering additional wire which I didn't want to do. An additional 3-6" of shielded wire would be a nice amount in the event of a bad cut. If you do choose to use the shielded wire make sure you get plenty of heat shrink to cover everything. I had a ground fault that was giving me fits until I realized it was the shielded wire touching the input jack. Operator error.

I ordered these products to repair my Gibson ES335. As a Dutchman, I spent hours scouring the internet for high-quality products that wouldn't affect the sound quality or the financial value of the guitar. I found them at Toneshaper. My ES335 now has its characteristic sound back and plays like new.

While this set has all the parts you need to set it up, it includes unshielded wire. All the Gibson ES-335s I have worked on, the body is not shielded, so the wire has to be. I used my own coaxial wire and I have no buzz, and all works well. As far as "easy to install," that does not apply to the ES-335 with no back plate. I used shrink tubing that I cut holes through on all the pots and switch and tied string to that to pull them into place using the hole for the bridge pickup to get them into place. You have to hold them in place while attaching the washer and nut from the outside. I used wire from an old hangar for the jack, which I easily fed back through the inside and removed through the F hole. Not the only way to do it, but it is the method I used, and it works. I did have to reach a finger through the F hole to hold each part in place while I tightened the nut.

I wanted to upgrade my Epiphone Dot to something closer to the Gibson ES-335 and bought this kit as part of the process. The parts are all top quality, and assembly was pretty easy. If you have decent soldering skills, you shouldn’t have a problem. I gave it 4-stars instead of 5 for being easy to install because this project it not an easy one for a novice. Otherwise, the instructions are very clear and well organized. The only modification to my guitar was enlarging the holes for the pots and switch. I was forewarned that this would be an issue, since the OEM parts use smaller holes than the Switchcraft parts, so there was no surprise there. The hardest part of the process was reassembling everything into the Epiphone’s semi-hollow body. All it took was a bit of patience and perserverence to accomplish. The result of adding this kit to my rebuild created a great guitar from one that was previously just pretty good.

An extremely well made kit comprising pots, switch, caps and treble bleed, I was disappointed that the switch didn’t come with the tip and remember if you are upgrading a budget guitar you will need the larger control knobs and you may have to drill out larger holes in the guitar to accommodate the bigger pots. Once installed it all worked perfectly.

I really appreciated the clear concise wiring diagram and quality parts - and the great price. I've never wired a guitar before but I have done some limited wiring and soldering years ago for a job I had. I have an ancient Japanese 335 looking Arai guitar that I picked up at a garage sell for 15 bucks. Someone put a Telecaster style neck on it at one time and did a poor job but it interested me so being a woodworker of some experience and an amature guitar player, I dove into resetting the neck at the proper height and angle, moving the bridge to get the intonation right and ended up with a unique fun to play guitar. It needed a new switch, pots and wiring. I found this kit on Amazon and bought it. I'm so happy I did. My "new" guitar is now my favorite. No one I know has one like it and it sounds pretty darn good with its original pickups. It's no Gibson but it plays well and I love it.

All the parts are top quality. The wiring instruction was comprehensive and easy to understand. It could be better if they could provide a video instruction how to put wired parts into the body of ES-335 from f-hole. It took me over 1 hour to figure out how to do it by attaching a string to each part and pull those up. But the result was great. I used with Seymour Duncan HOT RODDED HUMBUCKER SET (SH-4/SH-2) and I love the sound! I used the optional Treble Bleed parts that came with this kit. One thing I did not notice was, this kit doesn't include the knobs for the pots and the switch tip. They don't sell those in Amazon, so I ordered from ToneShaper's online store. If you are replacing the original parts from Gibson then you don't need them, but if you are building a new guitar like me or your original knobs are not 24-teeth, then you will need 4 knobs. FYI.

Un buen kit, con todo lo necesario. Trae cableado suficiente aunque no sobra mucho. El diagrama no está mal pero los he visto mejores. En general, recomendable

I purchased this guitar wiring kit to upgrade my Epiphone ES 335 DOT. The kit came with all the necessary part to get the job done. The kit has three sets of wires, so the installer has several installation options. It has a set of shielded single conductor wires, a set of Teflon coated wires and a set of Gavitt cloth cover wires. All are 22 awg. The modern guitar wire kit also comes with an extra cap and resistor set to counter act the effect of the high frequency roll off at low volume setting, if desired. I used the shielded wire set and also a different capacitor set up than the one suggested in the ToneShaper instructions, as I was replacing the Epi humbuckers with a set of Seymour Duncan P-90s. I had to open up the volume and tone holes to 3/8" as they were something smaller. I also had to open up the 3-way toggle switch hole to 1/2" and use the special nut the ToneShaper provided, as the 3-way Toggle switch shaft was not long enough to extend through the Epi ES 335 DOT body. One more thing, the knob on the Epi 3-way switch has a smaller threaded hole than the Gibson standard, so it didn't fit directly on the ToneShaper provided switch. I drilled the hole to the proper sized and threaded it on the new switch (I guess I could have ordered a Gibson switch knob). When I finished the SD P-90s sounded great. Nice and quiet.
