A8S Features & Installation Modes
Smart Chip & Manual Release Key
- The “auto-close” function ultimately secures the property after you leave.
- Stops in case of obstruction during gate opening, and reverses in case of obstruction during gate closing. Adjust the stall force to get your desired open / close obstruction sensitivity. Higher stall force level, lower obstruction sensitivity.
- Soft start and soft stop ensure a long-lasting performance.
- The above modules can be adjusted on the smart control panel directly.
- Equipped with manual release key in case of power outage or when you lose your remote.
Gate Capability
- A8S gate opener works well for the heavy duty single swing gate up to a maximum of 18ft. in length (correspondingly 250lbs. in weight).
- Suitable for the swing gate up to 880lbs. in weight (correspondingly 4ft. in length).
- Kindly note that the max. gate length capability is inversely proportional to the gate weight.
Max. Opening Angle of the Gate in Pull-to-Open Installation Mode
- The gate is allowed to open inwards viewed from inside property with the pull-to-open mode. The related bracket is included.
- In this mode, the maximum opening angle of the gate varies from 68° - 120° depending on the installation of the bracket.
Max. Opening Angle of the Gate in Push-to-Open Installation Mode
- The gate is allowed to open outwards viewed from inside property with the push-to-open mode. The related bracket is included.
- In this mode, the maximum opening angle of the gate varies from 91° - 112° depending on the installation of the bracket.

How to Power This Gate Opener? (NOTE: The tiny CR2025 3V button cell batteries that come with the package are ONLY for the remote control.)
Power Mode 1 (Default Mode) - By Solar Panels and Batteries
- Batteries as main power source, use only solar panel and solar charge controller to charge the batteries.
- Recommended in remote location such as farm, ranch, pasture, etc.
- Requires additional 24V 12Ah Automotive / Marine type battery (NOT incl.).
- 2 pcs 12V batteries connected in series for 24V (Battery is NOT included).
Power Mode 2 – By the Adapter, Solar Panels and Batteries
- Batteries as main power source, use the adapter, solar panel and solar charge controller together to charge the batteries.
- Recommended where AC electricity is accessible, but not stable.
- Requires additional 24V 12Ah Automotive / Marine type battery.
Power Mode 3 – By Solar Panels and Batteries
- Batteries as main power source, use only solar panel to charge the batteries (UPS01 Uninterrupted Power Supply is functioned as a solar charge controller).

I decided to look around a bit more after reading the reviews on a similar gate opener sold at the big box store. The gate opener arrived timely and without and missing parts or damage. I installed the opener on a home made 22' I beam taken from a mobile home frame. I was a bit concerned it would be to heavy for this opener but was pleasantly surprised that it preformed flawlessly. The range of operation with the remote fob is amazing especially since I ran the antenna wire outside the control box. 3 months and no issues. Only regret is I didn't get it at the sale price going on now.

Was a little challenging to set up and it ripped the welds off the gate we had to add wood. Remotes work well and door closes and provides a great sense of security

I built a 6' X14' gate out of 22ga tubing, then sided it with cedar 6" pickets. The gate is hinged with 7" barrel hinges. Operates smooth but never consistently. It acts up doesnt work all the time, blows fuses left and right. The operation of the opener is great only on a calm weather day and then it acts up and only opens partially or will open then when you go to close it it latches then kicks back open. In the wind the operator will not work, so you have to help it open by walking the gate open with your hands. I would not recommend this opener to anyone who had a privacy gate. It only good for metal open face panel gates. I have had nothing but problems with this junk.

I purchased my Topens A8S Solar Gate Opener for my 16' front metal gate for the front of my property from Amazon in December 2021.I had run into some personal issues while not being very mechanical to figure things out. I decided to email customer support and to my surprise the very next morning I had a reply email back from Shelley, a member from the customer support team.She has really been a lifesaver with her rapid responses and right-on tactical solutions. She also assured me that my gate opener has a 12 month warranty on all parts. She figured out that I may have had a faulty solar charger control box and in two days I had received and installed it and now no problems.I liked that the instructions were pretty clear and so are the on-line installment videos.My neighbor has one from another manufacturer and he was very impressed with mt A8S, he commented on the ease to adjust the arm control with taking the arm off and just using the disconnect key that comes with it. Also the 2 key ring controls that he had to purchase separately for his product.All in all I'm very pleased with the purchase of my A8S and would recommend it to anyone and especially for the incredible CUSTOMER SERVICE TEAM, having Shelley in my corner during the process was a relief.
