Purchased this item because TotalWireless informed me that I needed to get a SIM card for total wireless to use a phone that is compatible with their wireless service. I ordered it and when arrived I called Totalwireless and they said it would take 2 hrs to 2 days for the SIM card to be activated. After three days called Total wireless and they said that they had to send me a new SIM card. After another week without a phone I received the new SIM card and phone still not working. They stated that it was the phone I was trying to use even though they said it was compatible. Had to spend over $100.00 to purchase a Total Wireless phone before it worked.

I purchased 3 - activated online with Total Wireless using the Amazon Prime phones and they worked perfectly. I ported one number from Verizon and it took 60 seconds for it to port and activate, and I picked a new number for the other phone. However, for the new number I called in to change it because I didn't like the one I was given. It took 10 mins, and a few tries to get it working but I have no complaints in the end.

Caveat -- I've been using this for only one day. I'm using on it on an iphone 6s plus that I brought over from a postpaid ATT plan. The phone was bought directly from Apple and unlocked.I wanted a cheap way to try out verizon's network and thought I'd test Total Wireless at the same time. The reviews are pretty horrible and there's lots of misinformation out there. I figured they can't be in business if even half of it is true. Here's my experience:Day1 (Sunday): I ordered the SIM kit and $35 plan directly from Total Wireless with free 1-day shipping on Sunday afternoon for just under $40 after taxes. I received email confirming the purchase and an order number. Status check on the order number didn't work on Total Wireless' site.Day2 (Monday): I received email indicating the package had shipped. Order number still didn't work on Total Wireless site.Day3 (Tuesday): I received my SIM kit and plan pin. About 5:00 PM I started my activation and number port. Their web site makes this pretty straight-forward. ATT's site provided my account number and I had called in and verified my pin. I completed the process on Total Wireless' site. Nothing happened on my phone. They said it could take from a few minutes to a couple days, so no worries. I kept using my ATT service and carried the SIM around ready to swap.Day4 (Wednesday): Port still hasn't worked. There's no additional info on Total Wireless' site and they haven't emailed me. I contact them via Facebook chat. They are pretty slow to respond, but they do respond. I ask to check the status of the port process and they ask for my phone number and SIM number which I provide. They respond that the port has failed due to the account number being incorrect. I contact ATT and get the correct number (not the main account number, there is a separate number for wireless specifically) and provide all the information via facebook chat. Within 20 minutes my ATT phone stops working and they tell me to reboot my phone. I do so and verify that my ATT service is gone. I swap SIMs and reboot again and my phone comes up showing TFW by the signal bars. Outbound calls don't work. I reboot again and calls work both directions. Data works. Outbound SMS works, but not inbound. Within about 30 minutes inbound SMS starts working. The hotspot option is gone from settings, so tethering is truly disabled. VoLTE is not available, so I don't know yet whether voice and data can be used at the same time. Wifi calling option is also gone from settings.Otherwise my phone works fine. I should know within a week or so whether the signal issues with ATT are less prevalent with Total Wireless on Verizon's network. The lack of tethering may be a deal breaker for me.

The product worked. Getting these going is a pain. I had to call, after 45 minutes on the phone the phone was set up. Then I did the second phone, another 45 minutes reading codes from various places. Other than setting up the service is good. There is no Voicemail automation, it's equivalent to a tape voice recording of the 80s.

After thinking about moving to Total Wireless for a few months because of the higher data amount than the previous provider, I finally made the switch for my wife. She is enjoying the extra data. If you are porting a phone number, I would recommend starting the port on a Monday morning. Starting a port on the weekend isn't a great idea since it won't be dealt with until a business day anyway and it seems to get lost in the que. Seems like a Monday or Tuesday would be a good time to do that and allow the best chance of a quick and successful port with minimal or no issues. One we got it ported over and service working, it's been great.

It worked for me. I purchased the sim kit that has a tiny nano sim and 2 adapters to make it fit in larger sim slots. Went online and completed their account setup so I could do online payment plans and billing. Ported over my old number and was up and running in minutes. On their website it says dial *#06# or something to check your phone's serial number that you type it to ensure it is compatible with their network. As you likely know it is Verizon type phones. Some newer phones might be compatible with more than one network so they also work with total wireless. I see it is owned by trac phone, I hope they are better with billing than pageplus is that is also owned by them.Edit: No they are the same as pageplus. Terrible customer service and website related to billing and plans. I almost lost my prepaid plan for two phones following their guidance. It would start the added plan overwriting the existing plan, losing the 28 days left on that.
