Box came banged up and beat up in half open must have got damage and shipment there was only paper wrapping around the product. The sensor was broken on arrival luckily the OEM harness that was already on the old one still fit the new charcoal canister

Part never worked. 20 minutes after install check engine light came on and has been on for over a year. Didn't have money, after breaking my ass paying for this part and install, to have it checked again. Finally did check it hoping the problem would be something less expensive to fix but it was the canister again.

The boxing was poor no protection for the canister. In fact the box was damaged and one of the mounting tabs were bent. The canister was not damaged itself. It doesn't come with any instructions but is self evident as to where to hoses hook up to. It is a exact fit for the OEM replacement.

I was very satisfied with this product it was a genuine Toyota part and was the exact fit for my vehicle. I was able to repair my vehicle and the check engine light no longer comes on and I was able to do it at a third of the price of one from the dealer

Product is exactly the right part for the 2001 Toyota 4Runner SR5 2WD.This part, as long as you get it in one piece (mine was not due to poor packaging), was made by Toyota to be idiot proof. The hoses can only reach their proper line and cannot be confused. Nice job Toyota engineers. When installing in a DIY (do it yourself) situation without a hoist, jack up the driver side frame of the vehicle to relieve tension on the suspension. This action will raise the chassis off of the drive train This will give you the room you need to remove hose clamps and detach and reattach hoses.

I have a 2001 Toyota 4Runner. Recently on my dash the check engine light along with VSV & VSV TRAC light illuminated. I thought this was odd because the truck has been running great and still running great. I borrowed a buddy OBDII reader and received errors P0440, P0441 & P0446 - all of these errors trace back to the EVAP system. I then researched these errors on a lot of the 4Runner forums. There was a lot it could potentially be, the simplest being a loose gas cap. I though that the errors first occurred around 50 miles after my last fill up. So thinking it could have been the cap or reading about it being bad to top off gas. I then reset the codes and continue to drive around. When I filled up next I made sure not to top off and that my gas cap was install properly. However yet again the at around 3/4 of a tank the check engine lights came on. Previously when reading the forums I read that toping off you gas over time could damage the charcoal canister. This was my first time performing any real auto repairs. I was able to perform this repair in a couple hours. After about a week of driving around my car was ready for SMOG. I then took it in right away to get tested and I passed. That was a big day for me knowing that my repair fixed the issue.

Had my mechanic install the part. Codes went away for about a month. They're back now. Back to square one. So far i've changed the fuel cap and this. Will look for a place that can smoke test the system.

I had ruined my previous charcoal canister assembly by topping off when I fueled up which caused a check engine fault and disabled traction control on my 4-runner. My local dealer wanted to charge me $800 to replace it. It didn't seem too hard to replace, myself, and, after my good experience buying a gas cap from Richard at West Covina Toyota, I figured I'd ask him if he could source this canister assembly. He did, and matched the price the dealer had quoted. This assembly came with 100% of everything needed to make the replacement including new hose clamps. It took about an hour for me to make the swap, and I have since passed the state inspections which confirm it works perfectly!I wouldn't wish this part failure on anyone, but if you need a charcoal canister, this is a great place to get it!(And to all the other 4-Runner drivers out there, seriously: don't top-off.)
