This is an OEM part even though it comes in a generic bag (my photo only for comparison only) Compare this with a Toyota packaged union. Exactly the same down to the finish and markings. Why they repackage them? I dont know. But it fits a 2003 4runner v6 rear diff for breather relocation with a 1/4 ID hose. You should use 1/4 ID hose and it'll fit snug. Works with a 5/16 ID hose too but you just need a tighter clamp. This union actually has the right metric thread pitch to match your old female threading in the rear diff breather port. Its also got a anti-corrosion black coating which is great! Thicker steel design for long life. Silver colored Toyota unions i believe work with 5/16 ID hose (like some vent plugs) because i think they're a little larger but some versions like this one require a 1/4 ID hose. Much better because of its corrosion coating and made of thick steel.

Used this to thread into my 2001 Tacoma double-cab TRD rear differential breather hole on top of the differential. Originally there was just a breather valve threaded directly into it, which was perceptible to water infiltration. So I used this valve plus some silicone vacuum hosing to reroute a breather valve (Dorman brand) up behind the driver’s side taillight.

I always add one of these to my Toyota rear axles. The factory breather is ill-designed. After turning out the factory breather, I wrapped a little teflon tape around the threads and carefully turned this into my axle housing. Then attached some clear tubing with a small clamp up into my engine bay up to the firewall being careful not to pinch the tubing as I went and cable-tied it to the frame in a few spots. You can also use fuel line for added durability. Topped it off with a clamp-on small engine fuel filter and cable tied that right below the inner cowl. An easy project to protect your rear axle from sucking in water/blowing out your axle seals.

I bought this for a simple diff breather mod for my Tacoma's rear axle. it works well and threads right into where the old breather used to be. a 1/4" fuel line fits snugly to it and easily secure the hose to the fitting with a hose clamp.
