It is considered to have originated from Sueki in Nara Period (8th century), and reached its peak in the Azuchi-Momoyama period in the 16th century. The Mino Ware continued to evolve and has become necessary tableware on the Japanese dining table today. The features of the Mino Ware have been handed down unchanged until today and well accepted in Japan’s everyday life. The Mino Ware is characterized by the use of glaze and distorted shapes that people love even today. It is said that skilled craftsmen continue to improve the product to evolve with the time.

This bowl is pretty, but smaller than I was led to believe by the information. Also I was sure it was advertised as 2, would not have paid this much for just one.

I know it sounds silly to say that a bowl makes a difference and how something tastes, but I swear my rice tastes better out of this little bowl.

I love how it feels in my hands, it just -feels- nice! That being said, though, it does also feel a little fragile; very light-weight and almost dainty. I would probably handwash it, just for longevity's sake. Also, the color I got versus what I see in the picture is more of a pale red, almost darker pink. Not at all a bad thing, just a little visual thing that could literally just be my monitor settings. All in all, I think, a very good buy!

I bought four medium size bowls in the Ichimatsu Usagi pattern. They are well-made and of high quality. The bowls are individually wrapped as stated and nicely packaged, and further bubble-wrapped for shipping. Very happy with the purchase.
