I’m using this antenna with a tram mag mount for the base and connected to a Yaesu ft-60r. I’m able to make contact with a repeater roughly 50 miles away on UHF, very impressed with the transmit and receive clarity. Being able to trans/receive with a 5watt radio 50 miles is impressive, great performance highly recommend.

Put the antenna up on the roof and initial tests with a scanner showed a great signal from the local 700mhz trunked system. Hooked up a dual band radio and the SWR readings for both bands were over 5 with 5 watts or more. Took the antenna down and put up a tram 1180 and the SWR came down to 1.4. Of course the scanner doesn't find it much of a help with the trunked system, but not melting my radio is more important than my scanner's reception of the local trunked system.

I don’t know how well it works because I have no other external scanner to compare to but it doesn’t work are used with a hood mount from another company and it seems to work good enough.

I am new to Amateur Radio, so I'm using this right now with my Baofeng UV-82 inside the truck and it's improved the signal range GREATLY while driving around. For example, the 2M Calling frequency used to be staticy when people talked on it near me, now it's near perfect and crystal clear like a cell phone conversation. It is picking up more repeaters than I was able to before, and that's just with a 5W handheld! Great DUAL band antenna, did not do any tuning and have been using it for about a month and it's still in great shape.
