Perfect for hiking, as long as you aren't planning on walking across the entire country. The extra weight is worth carrying if you are like me, and love to cook real meals rather than just ramen and mashed potatoes at camp.

This is the larger size (the model 25) and it’s incredibly compact. I can’t imagine how small the small one is (call the model 27). The unit assembles into a windproof stove and includes the alcohol burner, a simmering adapter to reduce the heat of the flame when necessary, two pots, a frying pan, and a handle that fits both pots and the frying pan. I separately purchased the companion tea kettle and it amazingly fits perfectly inside this assembly! The frying pan/pot handle, the alcohol burner, and the simmering ring can be stored inside the tea kettle! There’s still room for a few other things. I’ll also store a small knife and fork. One of the other nice things about an alcohol stove as you can buy fuel anywhere around the world. If you get desperate you can actually burn hand sanitizer with an alcohol content above 70% - but regular alcohol fuels is cheaper! I Purchased the anodize model that includes a nonstick frying pan. It is definitely nonstick and seems to have an extra thick slightly textured nonstick surface. I made pancakes in it with no problem. If you can make pancakes in a frying pan and it doesn’t stick you’ve got a winner!

Seit fünfzig Jahren . Er ist bestens verarbeitet. Habe mir noch den Kessel und das Schneidebrett dazu gekauft. An kälteren Tagen den Spiritus vorheizen.

This weighs in at just over 900 grams for the full set, but is great for up to 4 people (if you eat light - or 2 hungry hikers). It's a flexible system with 2 pots and a fry pan on an integrated base that makes the most of the trangia alcohol burner. I loved/love my first trangia system of just the burner and a homemade stand, but this brings things to the next level. While I consider the full set too heavy for my solo ultralight backpack trips; this is perfect for a leisurely overnight and pancake breakfast with my kids. It's also great for picnics and car camping. Don't expect it to cook as fast as a camp stove or white gas, but the few minutes extra are worth it to me for the quiet efficiency of an alcohol burner. With no moving parts, there's nothing to break. All in all, a classic.

I recently purchased this stove, mainly based on reviews and my need for a compact stove. I was leery of the ability of alcohol to adequately cook a meal, but I have to admit that I am impressed. I was able to cook rice, chicken and vegetables for 3 people on the stove. While it did take some time, about 30 minutes, and I had to refill the stove once with fuel, I was able to have all three items ready at about the same time. I had enough fuel left over in the stove after dinner to use the tea kettle (I was foolish and bought it separately instead of as part of the kit) to make Cuban-styled coffee. This is definitely NOT a single person stove. Yes, it would work well for one person, but it is just as good when cooking for up to 4 people. It packs into an amazingly small size, and through clever design, is able to be a full cook set.

Trangia 25-3 Ultralight Hard Anodized Stove KitI have decades of experience with Svea, Primus, Coleman, MSR and other white gas or bottled gas stoves. The lightest ones are fussy. The reliable ones are heavy. Pressurized fuel is expensive. The fuel containers have to be packed out. All are noisy. Most are hard to adjust down to a simmering flame. The liquid fuel is dangerous. I decided to try out alcohol because so many through hikers swear by it. I am glad I finally got around to it. My wife and I spent 25 days paddling in the Boreal with the Trangia 25-3 UH Stove which comes with 1.5L and 1.75L pots and a small skillet, the burner and windscreen. It performed beautifully. It is completely silent. You can actually hear fish jumping and loons calling while cooking. You can talk in a low voice in harmony with your surroundings. It proved completely reliable. The wind screen is amazingly effective. It controls and optimizes the draft, and directs the heat to the pot, regardless of what is going on environmentally around it. We were able to cook in very strong winds, driving rain, in short, conditions that I would not even have attempted to light other stoves. It is easily lit with a flint striker. The flame can be damped down to a very low level with a sliding cover. This allows simmering and slow cooking . However the adjustment is finicky. It takes a bit of practice but it does work. Denatured alcohol or methanol are inexpensive if purchased by the gallon at hardware stores. Heat fuel additive, available at any gas station, is preferred by some through hikers. Plan ahead. It can be expensive if purchased from outfitters. It is just alcohol. Spills are not an environmental problem. (Methanol is distilled from pine trees.) It can be carried in plastic bottles (we use re-labeled Gator Aid Bottles}. Rinsed with water the empty bottle can be repurposed for water or food (Label appropriately). The bottle will burn up completely in a camp fire, if fires are permitted. Are there things I would change? I am definitely going to add one of the billys for future trips. We were often filling the pots right to the brim when cooking one-pot meals for two. This makes it difficult to stir, pour and handle. This was especially a problem when cooking over campfires. A half-liter more volume would be ideal. The simmer ring could be better designed. It works fine if adjusted before it is dropped in place. But once on the burner there is nothing securing the ring while sliding the cover. Both move together and there is no adjustment. The ring needs a détente that locks it in place on the stove. I wish there there was some way to add more alcohol while the burner is running. Some meals require more than 20 minutes to cook. The stove must be allowed to cool down before refilling and restarting it. We agonized over the purchase because it was to be portaged several times a day. We wanted something lighter. . In the end the advantages greatly outweighed the weight.Nr 150253 Ultralight Hard Anodized. Stove with2 saucepans, 1.75 and 1.5 litre,1 non-stick frypan, 22 cm.Weight 895 g.

I love it. I bought this for extended power outages. I wanted something with an alcohol stove, so I could avoid spending a small fortune in propane for cooking when power is out. At almost $5.00 a bottle, propane is not terribly cost effective for an extended outage. I had my eye on this for camping, boating, and bugout bag anyway, so I took the plunge and bought it. Gave it a try. It's really cool. Works great. Cheap to power. Cleans up great. Heats pretty fast. Not as fast as my JetBoil, but because of it's size and design, has some versatility and ease of use for "urban camping" that JetBoil lacks. Between the two I will never go without my percolated coffee and a warm meal. It's great. :) I am ready for the Apocalypse.
