Installed on a 1997 Ford RangerIt was my turn for the infamous 'sloppy shifter' issue. The original transmission-end of the cable had broken tabs so it was flopping around and wouldn't shift properly. This new cable did the trick. The shifter is tight again like new.Only issue I had installing was snapping it into place on the ball studs. The transmission end is easy enough with some channel locks, but the one under the dash was NOT easy. It's very tight quarters under there, or at least it was for me. Of course my Sasquatch hands doesn't help!If you're a smaller build and little hands, then it may be easier. Use a little grease, good pliers and lots of patience. Might not hurt to swear like a sailor a few times! :)

After spending over an hour attempting to replace the original, the one that you stated would worked on a 2002 Ford explorer sport Trac was nearly seven Inches too longMeanwhile, I went to O'Reilly's and got the right part.
