Product Description

Traxxas was started in 1986 with an idea for what was at that time an entirely new concept for a fully assembled, hobby-class R/C car. This new car would have all the same benefits of a hobby-class kit such as replaceable parts, hop-ups, and a high-quality component radio system, however it would be fully assembled with a colorful body, right out of the box. Traxxas coined the term "Ready-To-Run" (RTR) to describe this new class. Since a fully assembled, ready-to-run car would appeal to the entry-level beginner, a toll-free customer support line was set up from day one to service an entirely new category of hobby consumer. At first, acceptance of the RTR concept was slow because traditional R/C kits had always been unassembled. Once people realized that a Traxxas RTR had the same performance and quality as the traditional R/C kits, only that they didn't have to build it, the ready-to-run car was a runaway hit! A kit version would still be offered for those who still wanted to have the building experience.

From the Manufacturer

Traxxas has grown to become the number-1 selling name in RTR nitro and electric models for the last 4 years running. No one has done more than Traxxas to advance the RTR category with innovative thinking and fun designs that make it easy for anyone to get started in the great R/C hobby. Traxxas, truly the fastest name in Radio Control.

Fine for what it is. It is what the Manual showed for my Rustler. Which is accurate for ESC Temp sensor. But it only shows ESC voltage which rarely goes below 6v. I am getting the long version to get motor temp and will spice into the positive going from the battery to the motor. They offer adapters. Yes adapters, you need 2, a retro plug and an inbetween peice to plug into the sensor wire to get battery voltage. The long versio is Traxxas #6521 and the plug is #6549.. I put my sensor under the ESC. #6543 or #6541 for th epower tap. Could not see how to do it otherwise. There are reviews that go more in depth about the numbers. But at leas on my RTR it thias wont reach the motor.

Temp and Voltage seem to work just need to make sure to buy or make a voltage tap.

Works perfectly. But you have to now when or where this should be used. The Traxxas volt and temp sensors can be a bit confusing so I will provide my understanding here. Most Traxxas models' receivers have a single 3-pin port labelled "V/T". You can plug ONE "volt and temperature" sensor into this port. If you want to follow this approach then buy sensor #6521 or #6523 with the three-pin plug. (Check first whether this port is open though, some models like the X-Maxx already use this port for the ESC or whatever, out of the box).If you want to use more than one sensor, and/or if you want to use GPS 2.0 (#6551X) for more accurate speed readings, then you have to buy the Telemetry Expander 2.0 (#6550X). The Expander can accommodate up to three volt and three temperature sensors BUT it uses a different sensor than the receiver. If you choose to go this route you have to buy the "auto-detectable" Temp Sensor #6526 and Volt Sensor #6527, both of which have blue 4-pin plugs. So be careful you get the correct sensor. 3-pin plugs (6521/6523) for Receiver, blue 4-pin plugs (6526/6527) for Telemetry Expander. The 6523 Temp and Volt Sensor here can measure both volt and temp. You can put the temp sensor on whatever you want to measure (ESC, motor, batt). You can plug the red volt sensor into an empty CHANNEL port on the Receiver if you want to measure the ESC's voltage, or you can purchase a battery power tap (#6543 or #6541) to measure the battery's volts directly. The latter is probably most useful if you use LiPos.The 6521 sensor is identical to this one, it just has longer wires.

Works awesome. Plugs right into the TQi receiver and gives you motor temperature on the Traxxas Link app. Love it. Keep those motor temps below 200 F!
