If I had to use a plastic spur, I'd choose Traxxas every time I can. their gears are made of a better material than most plastic gears I've seen and used. And of all the parts in your drivetrain you need a little plastic here or there to be your wear part. Having a plastic spur in my 4-tec saves me from needing to buy more pinion gears, and if i get a little reckless and break something, these are super cheap to replace.You'll need to take out 5 screws (2 top, 3 bottom) to pull the rear bulkhead assembly off the chassis to access the spur gear and drive shaft to pull it off. but It's painless and easy to do, and can be completed in under 5 minutes!
