Both pieces are solid metal coated in chrome and are NOT plastic junk that are solid in all home improvement stores these days. Both pieces were easy to install although uninstalling the worn out fixtures was more challenging that the installation of these two pieces. I expect these to last until I sell my house in decades to come.

This set replaced a rusty, nasty looking set on my bathtub that was just beyond saving. This makes the tub look almost new and only took a couple minutes to install. The materials used feel high quality and have held up to a few cleanings now. I would recommend this.
