Bought this to plug in a printer, scanner and label printer. All devices that do not need power from USB. From day one this thing did not work right. I had unplug it from the computer then re-plug it in for the printer or the scanner to work, as for the label printer, it NEVER worked while plugged into this hub.The mini-USB connector for the cable that goes to the computer is loose right out of the box, and I've no idea why the thing has a plastic cover on the top that comes off as soon as you look at it. Weird.Buy another hub, this one is not going to do what you want it to do (ie work).

This is not the companies fault but I had bought this product specifically to charge my portable devices simultaneously. As it turns out, typically USB hubs only charge up to 500mA (.5 Amps) . This makes charging my devices very slow. For example, my iPad requires 2.1 Amp and Samsung 4S phone requires 1 Amp to charge fast. So, my advise is this: If you need a portable device charger and what to charge your portable devices as fast as possible, buy a dedicated charger and not a USB hub. Most all USB hubs charge at a very slow rate since their specific goal is to transfer data and not fast charge devices. Key words for this is "Wall Charger". Each port should be a minimum of 5 Watts for a 1 amp charge (for a phone), and 10 Watts to a 2 amp charging port (for a tablet). So a 4 port fast charger with two 1 amp ports combined with two 2 amp ports would be a 30 Watt charger. Just remember, look for a minimum of 5 watts per port. (5 volts x 1 amp = 5 watts) Hope the helps. Anyway, that's the skinny.... Good luck...

I purchased this item last October. I have purchased Tripp Lite products before and have been very happy with their quality. This USB hub however is a different story. It worked fine when I initially set it up but then after a month or so our power went out and when it cam back on the hub no longer worked. I opened it up and it was not hard to see why. The soldering joints and workmanship on the board is very poor. Don't waste you time with this product. My hope is that they will improve it in the future. But for now I purchased another hub from a different manufacturer.

This is a quality product compared to some of the others in the market. I would recommend it!
