This is a terrible design. This design mounts the new Al spoilboard extension, together with the existing extension, on top of a 9mm-thick MDF sheet and 1mm-thick spacers. This reduces the already scanty Z-axis travel by 10 mm. A far better design would use four pieces of Al channel 115mm long, mounted underneath the Al spoilboards to tie them together. These can be mounted between the linear bearings and not affect the Z-axis capacity in any way. I will rebuild my machine with this mod. So I ended up spending $55 for a $20 extrusion. If the return window wasn't already elapsed I would return this and buy the Al extrusion elsewhere. Shame on Genmitsu for not thinking this out better.Update 7/17/24: I contacted Sainsmart and pointed out the issues I have had with this. Their response was exemplary. I have made the mods I described above and the table is now dead flat and I have 1 cm of Z travel back. I give Sainsmart service five stars, even though I still only give this design two stars.

Mostly because I needed the T slot as I am unable to find just the T slot railing anywhere. So now I have 2 of these spoil boards, 2 sets of wires I'll never use and 2 T slot boards. They work great but I would have been happier to get just the T slot boards by themselves rather than buying this bundle.Overall, it's a good upgrade for any machine running these boards. You'll enjoy it for sure.

What I liked about this up grade was it is well made but dos not come with a longe y axis stepper motor wire which is needed when the gantry is moved to its new location of 120mm from back plate , and after a few emails to supplier they were not helpful I was told to flow instructions to original 3018 prover mack 3 before putting up grade on so u will need to order a longer wire and t nuts as reusing original ones are a pain for they will turn sideways when you try to reuse them had to order another style for that type of rail which is a 2040

Installed this in conjunction with the Y-axis extension. Read all the reviews and decided to buy it anyway. I had no problems at all with the installation of the spoilboard. All parts were included, even a new limit switch cable. All of the assembly was spot on, required no redrilling of holes. The only hassle was getting the gantry placement done. My measurement ended up at 119mm from the rear.

Easy to assemble, but the bearings and the nut seat on the 3018-Pro have smaller bolt holes (M4) and narrower hole spacing than provided on the new board. In particular, the holes provided for the nut seat extend beyond the parameters of the nut seat itself.

If you plan on doing the Y axis upgrade to your 3018, then you need to purchase this also. This will install at the same time as the rails and lead screw upgrade to convert your 3018 into a 3040. The install was simple and fast, I'm amazed at how much more Y axis travel it provides. If you only do one upgrade to your CNC, this is the one to do!

If you're looking at getting the Y-axis kit for your 3018 cnc I recommend this kit to go along with it. The kit comes with everything needed to add this to your cnc and only takes about 30 minutes to install.

Overall a fair product. Depending on your machine (mine is a vevor) the holes in the base for the 4 linear bearings are wrong and needed to be redrilled. Other than that not to shabby.

VERY difficult to assemble because holes were wrong size for existing bearings, the holes did NOT math the size and alignment of original mounts (I have to re-drill holes in wood board and bearings. A nightmare to get nuts aligned to re-attach the bearings. Almost returned, but angrily made mods to make it work.

Great product, comes well packaged with all the fixings my only issue was that this product comes with the Y axis limit switch extension cable and I think the cable should come with the Y axis extension kit.
