We use this for my 9 year old who plays soccer goalie. It is fairly lightweight, which is good, since my son also plays attacker for half of the game and leaves these pads on when he rotates out of goal.The pads are fairly dense for being as thin as they are, which is great, but that also leads to some resistance when trying to move quickly. These are a great value for the money. More expensive pads would get you a little more mobility without the weight or loss in density/protection, but might not be worth the price.

My son used these shorts as he is a goalie for his middle school soccer team. He is 12 years old, 5‘4“ tall and weighs just about 100 pounds. We bought the size Youth extra-large. They fit him perfectly. I did not put them in the dryer. We were pleased with this purchase.
