It's hard to find any information about what this item does. Here's my experience. I saw a review on another site that said it would better regulate the temperature in the fridge and freezer. This appears to be true. My freezer, before this part was added, ran +/- 15 degrees. After installing this the freezer temp maintained a temperature range of +/- 4 degrees. Similar results with the refrigerator. Although the before temperature range was not as dramatic, maybe +/- 9 degrees. My machine is an older model which uses a defrost timer and does not have an advanced control board.
