I made a mistake and ordered rear instead of front but installed them anyway seeing as how that was gonna be next and I'm very impressed with them and how they perform. But now I still have to order the front

When I first opened up the box the hook was laying down on the wrong side of the gears giving you the impression you were supposed to feed it threw the bars. Not the case! If you are having this problem turn the unit around and have the strap go over the top of the gears so that the strap hook is facing away from the crank handle. They should change this in packaging I read other reviews about this as well. That set aside, I feel this is a very high quality product. The black finish with the true red strap is very sharp looking. The hook is heavy duty and the rest of it looks and feels the same. I'm 62 yrs old and just had a Liver Transplant so bringing in my 16' Alumicraft was a bit difficult. I have a roller trailer which is supposed to help but it was still hard to load. I saw this winch and thought I would give it a try. The strap length is very long allowing me to hook the boat up while it's still several feet from the trailer. I pull the strap all the out and hang the hook on my guides that stick up at the end on the trailer then back into the water. I can then get back in the boat and take the hook from the guide and feel over the edge and hook it to my boat. So now my strap is laying right down the center of the trailer. I can then get out of the docked boat and release the dock straps and then go start cranking in the boat. The winch goes slower than other winches but has more power which is what I needed. The boat is easily cranked up the trailer and out of the water. And no wet feet. This has helped me go fishing again.

At first this product worked well; however, recently the cogs began to round off, and today when I cranked up my boat, I noticed one of the cogs on the wheel was nearly flat. The metal they use for this is not strong enough to call it a 3500 lb capacity winch.

One nut was clearly ground down to the locking thread. I’ll be replacing that nut before mounting. The winch is a bit roughed up and has clear signs of wear as if had been used, returned and restocked. I assumed the product would be new and look as though it just came from the factory. One tooth on the main gear jams when spun freely and when spun with the handle has a bit of a stop before moving through. Strap and hook appear new and unused. The locking mechanism could use some WD-40 or grease as it’s a bit stiffer than expected. Otherwise, I’ll make it work as I haven’t the patience to return it since the first time I purchased it they failed to actually deliver and the second time it was a few days later than advertised. I probably should have just gone to the trailer supply store and picked one up.

First of all the price is great compared to some, it does seem to have heavy duty gears, also this winch looks great, it's been out in the rain quite a bit already and no rustDuring install we realized that there are many different ways to mount it, you can slide forward and backward to adjust also can be mounted backwards, the handle can also be moved into 4 different locations for not only different gear powers but positionsThis was one of the first pieces that I purchased for my trailer and very please with the purchase

Seller sent a new winch free if cost and fast! Excellent communication. Winch is back on the trailer and it works great! They must have changed the bolt that's keeping the strap in place. So far so good!!! Changing to 5-stars for communication and fast replacement!!!____My boat is a Macgregor 26 D and weighs about 2100lbs. This winch is "rated 3500lbs" but broke. The bolt that holds the strap in place was too weak. It bent and eventually snapped.
