The UK SD card for the Garmin GPS worked very well in Scotland. Most of the time Google maps on my phone would not work unless I had internet , which was only at grocery stores. The Garmen saved the day for my 2 week trip and 1200 miles.

I have a Garmin nuvi 50LM.I purchased a map of UK and Ireland from GGM Enterprises LLC.To use the Map card insert it into the slot on the Garmin.Turn on the Garmin and start at the home screen.Select SettingsSelect MapSelect InfoUncheck CN North America NT 2023.20Now you will be able to choose UK and Ireland when you select Country.

Pros: Maps are mostly accurate; a few road numbers are out of date.Quirky: Navigation audio has the form: "Road Name + Road Number". Very few UK roads have posted names. Examples like: "East Bypass, Highway A248" simply confuse. There may be an option to suppress the road name, but I haven't found it.At Roundabouts, the software miscalculates the number of exits (because it confuses roundabout entrances with exits. This leads to "Take the 8th exit" when there are only 5 roads.Some road names are bizarre, e.g. the main ramp from M25 E to A1M S is announced as "Bridleway 50"Bad: There are major errors in navigation. In one case I was taken through the Mersey Tunnel where the northbound MerseyFlow would have been much quicker.A more serious example is the routing from Swansea to Dorset. The common routes are either through Bath, or the A34 via Newbury. Alarmingly, this GPS map routes M4 East to London then M3 Southwest back to Dorset. A route which adds several hours.It is as if routing does not properly recognize Motorway junctions.
