I tried to install as it was made, but the angles and length didn't work. I flattened it out and bent it to fit correctly. The bolts were not rated at the advertised 2500lb. I purchased the grade 8 bolts from local hardware store.

This item after installing as I was tightening the strap on the boat the extension piece starts to bend as I was tightening the strap. My boat is a 17ft and weight close to 1k. Not worth the buy. Use for kayak only.

These are good for small flats or bay boat. Definitely won’t hold the weight of any large boat. They give and flex when I strapped my 25’ with twins. I had to install the buckles directly to the frame of my trailer after finding an angle that somewhat worked.Secondly, why would they sell an install kit without stainless steel hardwear? If you sell a SS buckle, at least include SS hardwear for your install brackets!Ordered two sets of these, both going to the garbage.
