The camera is not great quality compared to what came with my original Azdome kit. It comes with a lot of cabling which is great for pairing to whatever camera system you have but does not seem to be a true 1080p. I returned it...

The case of my camera is metal, along with the mounting bracket. Looks sturdy enough for the job. The camera itself is pretty easy to install. Most people will end up putting in most of their effort into running the cables from the back of their car to the front.Hook up the camera wires to your display to make sure everything is compatible before running all those wires through the length of your car.I am using the camera in the lower-resolution mode. I chose this camera because the body of it is physically longer than some cheaper (low-resolution) models, so it's lens comes out farther, going past some body panels of my car, which would partially obstruct the view of a shorter camera. The video posted by the seller of this camera correctly explains that cutting the orange loop of wire will shift this camera from 1080p (high-resolution) mode to NTSC mode. I needed to do this because I have the camera connected to a cheaper car stereo, which is not capable of the 1080p resolution. The camera does not check the status of the orange, green, or white loop all the time, it only checks each time it powers on, so YOU MUST REMOVE POWER FROM THE CAMERA each time you cut a loop, and then RESTORE POWER AFTERWARD, or the camera will NOT NOTICE any change that you tried to make. Some info from the seller indicates that cutting the green loop of wire will activate the parking guideIines, so that they will be superimposed onto the image. This was not true with the camera I received. Instead the green loop caused the image to be reversed (left to right), which is useful when you are pointing the camera to the rear of the car to be used as a backup camera (like me). If I wanted the camera to face forward, I would not want the green loop to be cut. When I cut the white wire, the parking guide lines were activated. If you look carefully at the product page, where it shows that there are 2 extra pictures that are not yet shown, you will see the correct colors are mentioned in the drawing for these features.Orange- resolutionGreen- reverse imageWhite- guide linesI connected the red wire of the camera to the 12 volts positive that turns on my backup lights. This way, when my backup lights come on, the camera turns on also. I also ran a long wire to the front of my car and connected this same 12 volts positive to the wire in my stereo that triggers the stereo to put the camera signal on the screen (it's called BACKUP CAMERA TRIGGER). In my case, I did not need to ground the black camera wire for it to start working. Apparently, it is already getting ground from the stereo's video input, and this ground connection is traveling via the video cable and going back to the camera in the yellow video connector. The video coming from my camera is crisp, but it is also a little more dim than I was expecting during the daytime. At night, the image is actually reasonably bright, and it is as clear as would be expected in the lower light conditions.I knocked off one star because it is a little dimmer than I expected, and of course the directions are not great.

The original reverse camera on my Acekool 4K in-mirror dash cam was getting very blurry. The original has a 4-pin mini-DIN connector. This camera has a 4-pin mini-DIN connector. Plugged it in, and all is clear again. Will this work for all dash-cams with an analog HD reverse camera that uses a 4-pin connector? I cannot say. Did it work for mine, all while offering a nice clear image again? Yes -- and I cannot fault the product here for that. 5 stars.
