I picked up this wrench to fix a leak from the drain basket on my kitchen sink. It was originally installed without using a wrench and didn’t get sealed well. Unfortunately you have to remove the drain pipe to get a wrench like this onto the locking nut, but once I did it worked pretty well and allowed me to get the locking nut quite a bit tighter. The tool also has a notch in the outside of it that worked well to tighten the drain pipe nuts as well. Got everything put back together and no leaks!

Got the job done but the wrench seems oversize for a standard drain basket. The tool kept slipping around the nut and the notches never fit in the tool they way the tool is intended. The nut does eventually catch on a weird place on the wrench and tighten but it just seemed off somehow. I would not buy this one again but instead try to find one that fit the nut properly. It is well built and sturdy. What a shame.

Used on a sink in which the thin stainless sink metal and thin rubber washer allowed the clamping nut to bottom out on the basket threads before the basket sealed and was stuck tight. Eventually managed to get it loose using this wrench and a long thin board screwed to the basket thru the drain holes in the bottom of the basket. The problem in most cases is probably not the wrench. It's the teeth or little fins on the big nut which is my case were small and tapered and allow the wrench to keep slipping off. The wrench notches did line up with the nut fins, it just took a lot of force to keep them engaged until I got the nut to loosen. Only way to improved the wrench would probably be to add grooves or teeth to the notches--which of course would increase the price. Did work and at a decent price.

Was able to get sink drain tightened and sealed with minimal effort using this wrench. Much easier than pipe wrenches.
