I was a little skeptical at first when I got this. I saw the large bar magnet that I usually equate to "cheap" magnets that you'd slap on bottle openers or whatnot. The smell of the "tire rubber" around the magnet was pretty strong. However, regardless of all that, the bar magnet is actually recessed just enough behind the rubber to provide protection from scratches on your guide plate with minimal slipping. I was expecting a slightly stronger spring on the foot itself but it seems to be just enough to keep things gliding and still hold things in place. The fine tuner also helps if a more delicate touch is needed.If you're looking for a nice cheap but functional addition to your sewing machine kit, I definitely would recommend this!
