Somehow these were missing before by the last installer, perhaps because they were discontinued by BMW. Nevertheless, they are required on most shocks, and the dust boot serves no purpose without them as it attaches to the bottom most groove and just falls down without these bump stops..

I got these to replace the disintegrated bumpers on the rear struts of my 2002 Saturn wagon. I did a little research online to verify that the part number was correct and these were priced less than many of the other suppliers on Amazon and Ebay. Like many replacement parts, these particular bump stops are also compatible with some other vehicle makes and models but there are many varieties out there so do your research and compare part numbers.The swap was fairly simple but some specialized tools are required including a torque wrench for tightening nuts and bolts on the reassembly. I also used a coil spring compressor to disassemble the struts and followed the instructions from my trusty Haynes manual to complete the repair. Very happy with the parts so far and now have the full protection of intact bump stops on my rear struts.
