I only needed one of these but for the size and workmanship of this set of four I decided to get the set. I gave a few away to friends who have helped me out in my time of need, which is often. The manufacturing of these is very good but then again I really don't know until one breaks, if it does. I don't care about the finish and how they look, I just want it to hold and not break when using it. So, far, so good. However, if I find in the future that they did not live up to my expectations then I will edit this review

NO WAY RATED FOR HIGHWAY USE –NO WAY AM I USING THESE ON THE HIGHWAY.THEY ARE NOT DOT RATED FOR HIGHWAY USE. They will work perfectly for strapping down loads on wagons pulled behind my tractor.I am embarrassed to admit that I live in the state that has the infamous notoriety of being the state with the most vehicle fatality accidents caused by trailers getting loose and stuff flying off of trucks from “failure to properly secure your load”. If you use these to strap down stuff to haul a highway load, you are risking other people’s lives. After the accident, imagine trying to claim that you had your load properly secured. Imagine the charges the highway patrol will give you. Imagine how much fun the Wrongful Death Attorney is going to have prosecuting your negligence.

I ended up returning this product as it does not fit my chain type. When I purchased it I realized that the quality of the product is not the greatest as each clevis was obviously different from each other (not that it would matter for its use). I tend to look for consistency in products across the line and this did not hit that mark. I also think the cost is a bit steep for what is being purchased.

These are for your larger pulling chains. 1/2” thick and forged. My father’s eyes lit up when he saw these. He goes on regular jeep off-roading trips with his keeping buddies. He’s always towing one of them out of a ditch somewhere. He said they were perfect for the job.

When the box arrived, it was so heavy that I had a hard time lifting it. When I say that these things are heavy duty, I mean that they are HEAVY DUTY!!!! We do not have any immediate plans to use these hooks, but we have needed them in the past in other situations. It is nice knowing that we have these if we should need them again. I cannot imaging an instance where anything could damage these hooks. There is a multitude of ways to use these, and they will come in handy for many, many years to come!!

These are about 5 5/8" long, 3 1/2" wide, 1/2" mouth, with a 5/8" clevis pin. I have two hoists that are in need of new hardware, and these will be great replacements. There are two things of concern that don't take away from the product itself. First, the packaging was just a cardboard box. I know, it's just hooks but the box was banged up pretty badly on the inside and any more bouncing around would have opened the box up during shipment. These are heavy hooks so keeping them from bouncing around inside the box would help with ensuring they don't fall out before delivery. Thankfully, mine showed up with all 4 intact. Second, the clevis pin isn't the prettiest and the uneven cuts make some parts of the cotter pin hole closer to the edge than other parts. Granted, the cotter pin doesn't see the loaded weight but when handling heavy loads overhead, every bit of peace of mind helps with trusting the hardware more. Aside from that, great Grade 70 hooks.
