How to replace？

1. You should remove the old handle by carefully placing the butt of the old handle on the ground and tapping the head with a mallet until it slides down 2. To put the new handle on, slide the head onto the handle from the tapered end until it is seated on the thicker end of the handle 3. Next, hold the handle with the head down and hit the ground or a hard surface sharply several times to seat the head onto the handle

As soon as I started preparing he handle to place the head I could tell that it wasn’t great. Lasted 10 swings before a crack started. My suggestion: drop a few more bucks on a better quality handle and save yourself a headache

I purchased this as a replacement handle for a 6lb Craftsman "splitting maul". It did not come with the normal wood and metal wedges needed to secure the handle to the head, nor was a slot pre-cut into the handle for the wedges. In short, it was a lot more work to fit the handle, and a nuisance to obtain suitable wedges.Subsequently, I found a better alternative at Lowe's in-store: their Truper brand is US hickory, with pre-cut slot, and including a proper wood wedge and a metal wedge. All for $10 cheaper.
