Now that the weather is starting warm up, I am tackling some backyard projects including rust and paint removal in some areas. This has been great at getting chipped paint off in a more seamless matter. Much quicker and does a good job.

I fix and restore machinery. I've come up with a lot of ways to scare old paint, dried grease, rust, and all kinds of other nasties off of my subjects. I never used one of these silicon and carbide embedded disks until about a year ago. I was impressed. The first disks I got were green and weren't quite as aggressive as these purples - still they pretty much scared the old paint off of machines when it saw the disk coming. It is incredible how well these stripping disk work. They last a good long time to boot. If you haven't used them you're in for a treat. These purples are aggressive quality disks that completely shreds the paint as soon as it touches it - i do mean instantly. They work well with rust and mill scale - but they excel at paint removal. The scratches left behind are very fine, you can see them but they are not easily felt. Fine sanding cleans them up quick. These purple Vantego disks are an excellent example of this style stripping disk. Highly recommended.5 Stars for The Vantego 4" × 5/8" Purple Paint Stripping Discs ~ Thanks for Reading – Have an Incredible Life! ~

Literally less than 30 seconds to go from the first picture to the second. That sample is 2x2 square steel tubing about a foot long that was exposed to the weather for years. I recycle a lot of structural tubing for various projects in my shop such as machine stands or workbench frames. I always have a need to strip off the rust and these disks work well. They knock out the rust without grinding away the structural material. A great buy.

These are your average stripping discs. For an off brand, the price is pretty average. If you price just one of the big name pads, you can quickly tell that this is a good deal, even if they only last half as long. So far I have not seen anything that would make me shy away from purchasing these, or an similar no name brand again. They work well for removing paint, oxidation, rust, or cleaning up welds. I have even used them to knock the old caked on grass off of my mower blades before sharpening. Keep in mind that they are very coarse, so I would test a small inconspicuous area first if you are concerned about the surface finish. At approximately 3 bucks each this is a fair deal for what you get.

Review of ”Vantego 10-Pack 4" × 5/8" Purple Paint Stripping Discs for Angle Grinder":(Please refer to my reviewing guidelines at the bottom of the page). These are excellent 4" strip disks. If you've never used strip disks like these you'll be amazed how well they work for quickly taking down a surface, fiberglass, metal, wood, you name it. Unfortunately each manufacturer seems to have their own color coding and these purple disks I would rate as very coarse. Do realize that these are 4" OD with a 5/8" hole and must be used with a tool that takes that size.I've given these disks 4 stars because they are excellent disks but at a higher than average price at $3 each. You can find like items on Amazon for as low as $2/disk. I would've given them 5 stars if they were a little more competitively priced. My responsibility as an Amazon Vine Reviewer:Considering the Amazon rules/regulations for being a Vine Member It is obvious that it is very important to Amazon that the person doing the review has indeed inspected, tested, used the product as well as being aware of the competitive situation of the market segment. This is so it can be fairly compared and reviewed whether good, bad, average, or anywhere in all of the grey area between. One thing that I wish were better defined by Amazon is exactly what each star should represent from 1 to 5 so that every Vine member would use the same guide in that regard. So, to let you know the guide that I use, I include it as follows:I always start off considering that average is 3 stars, and an average rating to me is: The product was correctly represented in the ad. The manufacturing quality is as expected. The product performed as intended. The product operating/user guide if needed is helpful. The product is priced accordingly. Then after inspection, measuring, testing, using, wearing, or whatever is required I add or subtract from the average as follows: Subject to additional stars: Additional product features not expected that are useful. Manufacturing quality/performance above what was stated or expected. Included guides and/or useful information that is beyond the norm. Product pricing highly competitive for a superior product. Subject to fewer stars: The product was misrepresented in the ad. Manufacturing quality/performance below what was stated or expected. No useful guide or understandable user information when required. Product pricing is on the high side considering quality, features, or the market.all the best,dr

I've been cleaning up and putting a smooth finish on my old cast iron cooking gear recently, and I've been using flapper discs and sanding pads to do it, and then I got the idea to try these. They're kind of halfway between a flapper disc and a sanding pad, and it turns out that it works just as well as both. These discs will knock down all the rough bits on a cast iron pan in just a couple minutes, and the resulting surface is quite smooth. Of course, you can get it smoother with a polishing pad and some polishing compound, but these discs actually do a fantastic job just by themselves. Because the entire surface of the disc makes contact, it's also a lot faster than a flapper disc, and because the edge has a little bit of give, it gets into the rounded corners pretty nicely too. It can still gouge a bit if you're not careful, but it gouges less than a flapper, so that's nice as well. Overall, this is my new tool for polishing cast iron, so I will almost certainly be grabbing another pack or two of these.
