My experience with kayak seat pads is they are either hard closed-cell foam or open-celled sponges. Not this Vantone gel pad. At first I thought it was like sitting on a bunch or rope but extra squishy. It didn't get tiring or uncomfortable though, it just takes the hardness right out of the seat. The best thing is that the only thing that gets wet is the thin cover. I bet you could use it without the cover but maybe it protects the gel from UV. I bet the sun eats this alive if not protected. I didn't think to test it but I am also fairly certain it does not float. Maybe a D-ring sewn into the cover with and a tether? That would likely get in the way more than help. Just don't tip in deep water! If you need a comfortable seat pad for your kayak or canoe, this one absolutely does the trick.

Eases the discomfort caused by sitting on a hard surface, or from sitting for too long in one place. I wish it came in a larger size that would better fit my ample caboose. (Yes, it’s all muscle.) Fabric cover is a nice addition. I got it to use on the water, but on my way to the lake I tossed it on my pickup driver’s seat – and it stayed there. I guess I’ll need a second one for the boat. For anyone who’s wondering the correct orientation of the cushion, it should match your anatomy – the crack belongs in the back.

This gel seat cushion is so comfortable and provides the extra support I need for my hips and low back and alleviates discomfort during extended periods of kayaking. It is flexible, breathable and has a special U-shaped ergonomic design that provides maximum support. I like that it can be used with or without the cover. The cover is super thin and seems pretty breathable and dries quickly if gets wet. It has anti-slip dots on the bottom of the cover to keep it from skidding around . The zipper does not go the whole length of the cushion and makes it more difficult to get the cushion in, but not impossible. The gel honey comb structure keeps it cool. Definitely makes my kayak seat more comfortable!

The color was to have been orange but the color that arrived is black. If black didn't go with any other color then I would have returned, however it will get hotter faster. Haven't used yet so not sure of comfort yet.

I got this for my son to use in his kayak and he really likes it. It is made of a soft gel type material that conforms to your body to relieve pressure. He says it really made a difference on his comfort level while kayaking. It is made of waterproof non slip material. It comes with a black cover that has rubber grips on one side to keep it from sliding also. Overall this perfect and seems to be very durable for long time use.

I bought a kayak from a friend and it is made of one solid piece of plastic molded into a boat shape. The seat area is hard plasticu and while it is fine for a while, it really does a number on your pirate booty. This cushion is thick enough to take the pain away so that you can enjoy your paddle. The honeycomb style rinses off when you return from the swamp. I don’t know if it floats so try not to tip over.It arrived in a fabric bag which I’m not sure what to do with. I guess you could use it with the cover on it since it has some anti-slip nubs.I did try it with the cover on in an office chair and it added a nice little extra bit of cushion. My spouse weighs a bit more than I and he likes it too but it seems to get flattened a bit more.

I finally got my own kayak this summer and one of the first things I decided after that first float was that I definitely needed a seat cushion to provide extra cush for my tush. This one caught my eye partly because of the gel (I'm assuming silicone) material and also because of the pretty purple color. The first thing I noticed even before I opened the package was the weight, this thing is heavier than I would have expected. The second thing was that there was no purple in sight! But 'in sight' turned out to be the key phrase as I figured out this has a removable cover with dots on one side for better gripping ability. Fluffed up the cushion is about an 1-1/4” and goes down to around 1/4” when sat upon by an adult. The gel does spring right back up when you are not longer sitting on it. I have been rather surprised over the last few weeks at how many places I actually use this cushion. Before it ever saw water I had it in the backseat of our pickup since it isn't quite as comfortable as the back seat, I used it in a couple of lawn chairs while enjoying the summer out in the yard, I even used it for a bit on the wood chair by my craft table...When I finally took it out on the kayak I gave it – and myself – a real workout while paddling across the reservoir and back. The purple gel sure looks weird but so far this cushion has had my back(side) and I have been glad to have it. The entire thing is safe to splash and get wet and it dries fairly quickly in the sun. I will be storing it inside for the winter but I am really looking forward to getting it and my kayak back out again next summer...
