I received the FICBXRA Store Variable Fan Speed Control Adjuster Cordless for Inline Duct Exhaust Fan Vent Blower Controller Wireless for Ventilation FanI have a DIY kitchen fan in my cabin, I got an inline fan, built a box around it and connected it to the old stove chimney. It works, the fan is very strong, but it can be very noisy. This simply device lets me control the speed of the fan easily, setting on low to medium-low gives me a good draw on the fan, with a lot less sound. Very happy to have a quieter fan that I can control easily.

I tried using this speed controller with a radon fan that did not have a built-in speed controller. This external controller caused the fan to make a loud humming noise at the medium and high speed settings, and to completely shut off at the low speed setting. I tested it on an inline duct fan and had the same issues.This appears to be a phase-angle controller that reduces fan voltage by cutting off part of the AC sine wave to reduce voltage. This abrupt change in the electrical signal creates harmonic distortion. The distortion can cause fan motors to resonate or hum.Many radon and inline duct fans use single-phase induction motors, which are designed to run at a specific speed when supplied with full AC power. When these motors receive a "chopped" or distorted voltage, they may not run smoothly, leading to vibrations or humming noises.Higher end fan controllers will reduce voltage more smoothly, allowing them to work with more fans. This one may work with some fans, but it's hit or miss, depending on the fan motor type.

Used for a through-wall duct fan to pipe conditioned air into a bathroom from an adjacent bedroom that has a mini-spilt AC/Heat unit and the bathroom does not.I added a wall plug just below the fan and routed the power cord through a AV box just below the power outlet and plugged this controller in and the fan into it to control the speed.It's clearly marked and the knob is easy to turn, so no instruction on how to use is necessary.The fan runs at low speed most of the time and keeps the temperature equal to the bedroom with no issues and you can crank the fan up to medium or high when showering to really help ventilate and cool it down in there.Very happy with the price, how easy it was to install and the simple operation.It was also shipped and received fast.5- Stars!

I got this to go with an inline fan and was very happy with the results. Worked exactly as expected, adds both speed control and shut off switch to a simple plug to power fan. The control clicks firmly on into the high position and then can adjust down through a good range with a decent slow end. Not a complicated little unit, but does exactly what it is supposed to.

I like this fan speed controller. It works well and is made of a thick plastic. The knob is decent. My only negatives to this is how large of a footprint it takes up in the outlet or power strip... And that the speeds do not have a "click" or notch to designate the definite "high/medium/low" spots

It only lasted a few uses before burning out. Maybe I used it with too large of a fan, didn’t seem like it. For a heavy duty one and it’s been working great for months
