About this item

  • Low to High (LTH) – BD-R LTH is the same as all other Blu-ray media, except it’s manufactured using a more efficient production process.
  • High-Definition – Blu-ray discs are designed especially to store large HD video and audio files. So, you’ll use fewer discs when you’re backing-up, recording or duplicating high definition digital recordings - including your music library.
  • Hard Coat - All Verbatim Blu-ray discs are treated with a super hard coat to prevent scratches, resist fingerprints and reduce dust build-up.
  • Laser Technology – Verbatim Blu-ray discs use blue-violet laser technology to read and write data. That means, superb resolution, excellent contrast, vivid colors and amazing sound.
  • Capacity - The Verbatim single-layer Blu-ray disc offers up to 25GB of storage space to back-up your video, music, photos and more.

Verbatim BD-R LTH media is manufactured with an organic dye that turns the disc’s reflectivity during recording from “low to high”. Other BD-R discs use the “high to low” recording method. Additionally, BD-R LTH is manufactured on converted CD-R/DVD-R production lines, which utilize a spin coating process and allow excess materials to be recycled. These two cost-cutting measures let us pass along the savings to you. Upon introduction of the BD-R LTH media, key hardware manufacturers like Sony, Pioneer, Panasonic and LG have worked to assure that their burners are fully compatible. If your BD burner is a 2009 model or later it will most likely support recording and playback of BD-R LTH media. If your Blu-ray hardware was manufactured before 2009, check with the manufacturer for firmware updates.

I had read some reviews of this product here on Amazon.com, some (the most one) are negative, but I was in need of a blu ray blank disks to burn my Tivo shows, especially Sesame Street Shows for my 16 months old toddler. (he loves Sesame Street), and buy it anyway. I'm using a LG HL-DT-ST BD RE BH10LS30 Blu Ray burner on my computer and a Sony BDP-S370 for playback. These discs are amazing. Compatible with my 2 devices, performs well beyond expected and the picture is awesome, with pure and crisp 1080i and 1080p.So, don't be afraid like i was and give a try. It Worth it.

I've burnt about 30 of these discs and have made only 2 coasters (user error) I burn with an LG BH10LS30 and play the blu-ray backups fine with both my PS3 and Samsung BD-P1590. I use IMGBURN to burn the discs. It's freeware and argueably the best burning app out there. I think that the problem some people are having is with the way they structure the files before writing and also the amount of data they try to burn (I stay under 23700MBs). I find the quality of these to be great. Verbatim are among the best available. these discs play in my samsung blu-ray player even though a lot of people say that they shouldn't.(Again, I think it has more to do with file structure, file size and the burning program used). I would definitely buy these again.

I just got this and tried burning a couple of disks. These disks are about 1 dollars and 80 cents each and work perfectly for both data and movie. I am using Roxio Creator 2010 Pro and the LG WH08LS20 with the latest firmware 2.00 which is available at Firmware HQ (Google it). No coaster yet after burnnig 6. The only thing is that it takes a long time to burn because it's 2X unlike this one's competitor Memorex BD-R which is 4X. But the Memorex one is going for about 2 dollars each here on Amazon. I will probably stop using DVD-R disks when this one becomes 1 dollar 20 cents or so(I get 100 Verbatim DVD-Rs for 22-23 dollars on sale). But BD-R is relatively new so, nice job making affordable yet qality disks, Verbatim!

Pros:Everything. Priced under $2 per disc these 25 gig discs are now much cheaper per gig than DL DVDs and compete with regular DVD-Rs price per gig. I've made both data BD-Rs and Blu-Ray movie BD-Rs with absolutely no issues using my old LG GGW-H20L ATA drive. I just had to update the firmware. The latest is YL05. I was also concerned whether my old Panasonic BD30 would play them. No issues at all. But before I tried it I updated to the latest firmware (2.9).Cons:Not a thing.Other Thoughts:I lost the first disc I burned. I used Nero Burning ROM v9.4 and I wondered why it took 1:42 minutes. That Blu-Ray would not play past the title screen on my player. I then realized that Nero set the writing speed WRONG. These discs burn at 2X BD NOT 2X DVD. Nero wrote the disc at 2X DVD which is about .7 BD. 2X BD = 7X DVD. So I burned the rest of the discs with Imgburn v2.5, a FREE program. It only took about 40 minutes with that program to burn a full BD-R at 2X. So...don't use Nero to burn these until Nero is updated.

I've had this drive for a few weeks now - have used it to burn 3 BD-R LTH disks from Verbatim and several DVD's. The LTH disks are very inexpensive when compared to regular BD recordable disks, this drive and the Samsung Blu Ray player I have work fine with the disks - at less than $1.50 per disk they are very affordable - I'm only concerned now with longevity - time will tell. The drive works well and was very simple to install, software bundle is good, but to get all the features requires a paid upgrade, to be expected at the price charged for the drive, and software works ok as is. This may not be the speediest drive, but for the money does a great job - would definitely recommend.

So far this product is batting at 60%. On the burn, 3 discs have been successful and 2 are coasters. I bought 2 spindles of these and hope that the percentage improves drastically. My burner LG WH10SL30K is supposed to accept these without problems. I do have 35 of these left to try. If this success/failure rate continues I will never buy this product again. If the percentage of success goes down I will attempt to return the unused spindle. Verbatim's BD-R and this, their cheaper BD-R LTH, may prove to be equal in cost effectiveness.I must admit that I was wrong in the above statement. The two I previously considered coasters did finally work. I have since discovered my problems lied within 'operator error' of a sort. I found that if I remove and reinsert into my LG WH10SL30 it will work everytime. I can only assume the burner does not read this type of disk (LTH) correctly on the first try. As long as I do the reinsert exercise this works everytime. That is an easy work around and I am satisfied.

Good value 25GB single-layer BD-R discs with excellent appearance and compatibility (my burner is an LG WH10LS30). Quality, though, varies a bit. These are LTH (low-to-high) discs and are limited to only 2X burning speed, rather than the usual 4X speed that the more expensive standard BD-Rs are rated for. This means that, all else being equal, it should take about 45 minutes to burn a full disc at 2X instead of about 25 minutes at 4X. Given this, however, these discs do vary a considerable amount, even within the same hatbox. For every 10 discs I burn, only about 6 or 7 require only 45 minutes. The rest take anywhere from 60 all the way up to 90 minutes to burn! This is 1X burning and, to me, is barely acceptable. Fortunately, the discs still come out okay. The slowdown doesn't affect data integrity at all. I've burned dozens of Verbatim LTH discs and so far I've only gotten 1 coaster and that was probably due to a glitch in my burner program. All in all, these are dependable discs at a good price.
