The light itself is nice and light. However, it comes with a remote battery pack. That was not mentioned in the description. Too many worked etc for my desired use. I bought another brand as it wasn’t worth returning this one. I will have to find a use for this one that accommodates the extra wire and battery pack.

I build my own bikes, including one of the best road/commuter ebikes in the world. This light has been perfect for my night time mountain biking. The front light is bright enough on the low level for coverage. I've not had to use the higher two levels but might on a road bike at night where I might need a longer view. Don't forget that holding the power button a few seconds switches to flashing mode, perfect for daytime or twilight to get the attention of drivers or other trail users. The little red rear light is also a great feature and value added, easy to use and key to being seen from behind!I find I get about 6 hours of ride time out of a charge on the front light, something like 4 hours at 3 bars of charge then 2 hours at 2 bars of charge. It does fail quickly once it gets to a single bar of charge. I've got around 30 hours on my pack so far. For night riding, always carry a backup, like a mag light. The unit is small and mounts easily, as does the battery pack, with much flexibility of where to put the battery. For night mountain biking in twisty trails I would recommend a helmet-mounted light, too, so you can see where you're looking before you've turned this front light in that direction. But for most bike trails and relatively straight runs this light is sufficient. You can spend a lot more money, but this unit has very effective front and back lights, a light and small battery pack, and easy mounting leaves no excuse for not riding with the safety of lights front and rear.Update: Since writing this review I've had two problems with the red tail light. First, the screw that holds the light into the frame worked lose and the light fell off at night, unbeknownst to me. Fortunately, it was at night, so I was able to retrace my trail and find it! I used loctite on the threads to seal the screw back into the frame through the rubber seal. It wasn't long after that that I fortunately heard the unit fall off again on pavement and found that the screw head had pulled through the rubber seal. I put a steel washer between the screw head and rubber seal and again with loctite on the threads, so that should hold it. I'm not reducing my rating on this light as the value and function is still fantastic, but I'd be pretty pissed if I had to buy another tail light for these simple design quality issues with the tail light. Even so, the main light would be a great deal even if I had to buy a separate tail light. Also, I wouldn't depend on the little tail light alone for riding in or near traffic in any level of daylight; it's too small. At night it's fine. In daylight on roads I ride with a much brighter, flashing red light mounted on the back of my helmet for elevated visibility.

Backstory:Recently, just in time for night MTB season, I discovered that my beloved Serfas True 1500 had joined the navy. That stinks on two levels: I loved it; and I could not afford to replace it at that time. I had some old lights laying around from the 24 hour racing days including a non-functioning Cateye Stadium 3 (remember those?) and a dim, clunky Cateye Triple Shot. After using the True 1500, the Triple Shot just wasn't going to cut it for the twisty trails around here, nor would the battery hold out when it gets down to 15 kilometers below zero.Pros:-It's bright enough. Probably not 2400 lumens in anything but a theoretical sense. I just use the low or medium setting for riding singletrack because our trails aren't 20 mph trails.-It's lightweight. Even with the long cord and battery it weighs less than just the head of my old Triple Shot.-The mount works well enough. It hasn't slipped once on our rooty, lumpy trails. The battery is easy to mount. You have to do something with all that cable, but the velcro strap and rubber feet make it pretty secure.Battery life is fine for what I do. Two hours last night in ~20 degree F. temps. I used the middle setting.Cons:-Longevity might be questionable.-That mounting clamp really does not inspire confidence, even if it hasn't failed me yet.-The beam has a big bright spot in the middle and drops off significantly. This is not going to be an adequate light for shredding deep woods gnar at many speed. On the bright setting it's even worse. I compensate by aiming it up the trail, but then it's harder to see the ground right in front of the bike.-The power button is really touchy and I've turned it off when trying to turn it up one level.Takeaway:-It's not adequate for riding heavy trails in the dark at speed, but if you're willing to let the KOM's slip out of your fingers, it will get the job done just fine. The lens could use a little more dispersion.-I can't comment on longevity either of the unit itself or of the battery just yet.-Free taillight!-I deliberately haven't mentioned the price once. Buy this light and invite a newbie friend to ride in the woods with you. Holy crow, it's so much fun to ride in the woods in the dark! And at this price, how could you not?-Have I mentioned that this light is an inexpensive gateway to a whole new world of adventure?

For the price, this is a good light. It's bright, easy to install, and the battery life is great so far, especially compared to other lights of similar strength. However, firstly, I highly doubt this is 2400 lumens. The light is bright, no doubt. It covers a long distance and does a good job, but 2400 lumens? I have a hard time believing that especially after having used some certified 1200 lumen lights in the past.Secondly, the light is not very wide. It's a very bright beam that doesn't spread out very much. Some other lights will have a diffuser that comes with the light or is purchased separately to help spread out the light, but this one is just a bright direct beam (think like a flashlight). This might be a disadvantage depending on your purpose of using it.The battery is external and easy to install. I have mine just under my stem on my road bike and it doesn't take up near as much space as I thought it would. Velcro is a little bit small so if you want this battery on your down tube or even top tube, it might not fit well if you have a larger diameter tube. As for the battery life, like I mentioned it does last pretty long. I used about 1/3 of the battery life in 1 hour alternating between HIGH and MEDIUM brightness. I'm not sure about if it reaches the claims, but on low power this would be able to last several hours. For $25ish this is not a bad light at all in my opinion. But if some of these disadvantages are the reasons you were wanting a light to begin with there may be some other choices with a wider beam and certified brightness. Maybe with an integrated battery
