Using my own parts names. Using to rebuild a 40-year-old regulator. My plunger has a straight stem with the seal recessed. The stem nut had a small shoulder that went into recess to contact seal. New stem has a slight tapered section, almost like a funnel. It would contact the shoulder in the stem nut and leak. Carefully drilled shoulder out so stem nut was flat and able to contact new style stem seal. Then it worked. I don't believe it was a design flaw, just change in design over time. However, bought this one (higher priced) hoping it was factory original. It is made in China like cheaper version. COO not listed in product description.

I use a Victor oxy/acetylene rig, only ocassionally, and I recently had to exchange my empty gas bottles for full ones.I expected everything to work normally, but was surprised to see that the acetylene regulator was leaking from the high side to the low side, and would not maintain a steady pressure of 5-6 psi, it would continiue to rise up towards 15 psi, which is an unsafe operating pressure for acetylene, it becomes unstable at 15 psi and above, and can send unwary welders to the promised land. NOW, THE FIX....I checked a couple of youtube videos, and decided a regulator rebuild kit was the way to go. Delivery was quick, and disassemble/ remove/reinstall was easy and fixed the problem. If you suspect tour equipment has an issue, get it repaired immediately before using it again!

My Acetylene regulator put full tank pressure in my line and wouldn't regulate no matter how much I turned the adjusting rod. So I installed this kit and now my regulator works fine. Its fairly easy to do and there are repair videos you can fine on the internet.
