Doesn't work. It's simple enough to set up and use if you follow the included instruction manual carefully, however when I had it set up, the video fades in and out of color, with lots of static, distortion, rolling bars, etc. I tested the cassette, VHS player and my cables on another TV with none of the distortions, so it was this device which was not functioning properly. I see in recent reviews that others have had similar problems.I am using a Windows 11 machine.

I was looking into digitizing some of our old family VHS tapes. Luckily I was able to get ahold of a working VHS player, because those are incredibly expensive these days, but I figured the cost of the VHS player plus the cost of this gadget would still be less than the cost of having all the tapes digitized by a third party service.I used this with QuickTime on my MacBook and it was super easy - the video cords plug into the VCR and the USB into the laptop, and then I was able to do a new video recording from USB and it recorded the videos in .mp4 format. I was able to trim them in QuickTime before saving them so that I could get different clips instead of uploading the whole VHS.

I have purchased a RCA version - so, purely analog input. This product is based on EasierCAP:$ lsusbBus 001 Device 011: ID 534d:0021 MacroSilicon MS210x Video Grabber [EasierCAP]It is detected and works under Linux Ubuntu as a Plug&Play device. I used it with OBS Studio. While the image sharpness maybe could have been better, I can not compare it with any other product.Unfortunately, vendors hide the hardware information, so it is rather hard to predict if a particular device may or may not work under Linux - so this is the purpose of this review.

The product just functioned normally when I plugged it in...didn't need to install any special software. Works with OBS in my experience so it should work with most/if not all capturing softwares 👍

. . . needed and quick, cheap solution for capturing a few VHS tapes. Arrived quickly. Worked without special drivers on my Linux box and worked with the suggested, free open source software. Configuring the software was a little tricky and took a few minutes of trial and error.

a good product. only negative point is that they give driver software in mini CD. This technology is outdated. Fortunately I have CD drive in by old desktop so i uploaded it there and then transferred to my laptop using thumb drive. otherwise the product is good. met my expectations.

Used this item to capture video from a VCR to the computer. The audio and video were out of sync. Just got a new laptop with windows 11. This device may not be compatible with Windows11. It was easy to use and the video was great the sound was okay to but not in sync.

It's hard to rate this. The Grabber hardware works perfectly. Honestech software does not recognise the hardware it comes with.Software says the Camera device cannot be used.It is a great value for the hardware but zero value for the software.VHS to DVD Transfer with GRABBER and ZOOMAround 2010 I transferred a large number of VHS home videos and commercial movies to DVD using a specialized hardware device and accompanying software. Go forward to 2021. While cleaning out all the old VHS tapes I ran across several movies I had not transferred. I can not find the original device kit I used 10 year ago. I bought the DIGITNOW transfer kit from Amazon for $10. Hardware is USB 2.0 Grabber dongle. Software.is Honestech. I was sorely disappointed with the result. The Grabber shows up in WIndows 10 as a Camera device, AV TO USB 2.0 and an audio device, USB 2.0 MIC. Attempting to record the VHS output the Honestech software says the “camera device can not be used”.I recalled that ZOOM records camera videos. I was able to configure the ZOOM client to use the GRABBER devices. The audio had to be configured for Original Sound. For this to work the Grabber Honestech software has to be installed to provide working drivers for the camera and audio.Burning a usable DVD from the captured .mp4 file is another matter. The Honestech burning software does not recognise any of the common video formats. It must be using a proprietary file marker from the transfer. There is no freely available software to render and burn such video files to a DVD. The best solution is available from the Microsoft Store on Windows 10. Install Movie Maker Video Editor and then upgrade to Movie Maker Pro for $14.99 that comes with DVD Creator. It all just works. The only issue so far is the DVDs will not play on the 1988 SONY DVD player attached to the VHS player I use. The DVDs play just fine on my 2009 SONY Bluray player and on PC DVD devices. Go figure.I can transfer my VHS to DVD at a total cost of about $25.
