I bought this as a gift for my husband and he really likes it. It’s very nice looking and very sturdy. As for functionality to be honest I don’t know how well it functions. It is definitely a conversation piece and looks very nice on our coffee table.

I have not used a Sextant in 40 years, so to be honest I don't know it this actually works - but it sure looks like it would. Solid brass, heavy, with real optics, mirror, etc. All the details are there. Great as a prop for a nautical themed shoot or addition to a nautical themed costume or cosplay. Even the box is amazingly well made. Looks great on a shelf or as part of my Captain Obvious costume.

I admit I don't know how to use a sextant, the sellers are kind enough to include instructions on how to use it though. I got this as an anniversary gift for someone and the quality is great. Beautiful and well made. It was also shipped well and protected.

From the box to the details of the Sextant this is just a really nice piece of engineering.In testing this works from my limited knowledge of how these function. The lens and filters are all aligned as I believe that they should. I am not naval expert or have a serious use for this but it is so fascinating. It has that vintage look and feel. While it does appear to be functional, I would not expect this to stand up to a serious navigational expert. It is perfect decorative gift for that naval serviceman or boat captain in your life.I was unable to locate any warranty either in the product information or item description.I appreciate you taking the time to read this. I received this product in exchange for an honest review. All in all, this is an extremely cool gift. The navigational theme is something that intrigues a lot of people, including me. This is a replica that I find charming and interesting. I ordered this as a conversation piece for my home library décor. This brass nautical sextant is attractive and let's me get some 'hands on' exploration when I read or watch sea tales involving the characters needing to figure out where they are. This sextant has a number of lens and items for alignment. There are also 2 small lenses for spotting I assume. All of this fits into a nice box. When the box is opened, there's a metal plate inside the top lid explaining a bit about a sextant. Actual instructions on how a sextant is used is readily available on the internet. This came well wrapped. The sextant came wrapped in tiny bubble wrap in the box and each of the 2 small eyepieces were in individual plastic bags. My rating is 5 stars for a well done replica.

Anyway this Vintage Brass Nautical Sextant German J Scott Replica with Hardwood Box Marine Instrument Celestial Telescope with Two bouble Sights looks great.Comes in a very cool wood box with brass fittings. Looks like solid brass or bronze, with all the neat lenses and filters and such.Has two extra of the little telescope things too.Now, I do not know how to use one of these things, I have to admit. I know the concept and science but not the practicalities. but still, to heft this and look through the scope makes you feel like you are on the deck of a mighty frigate, sailing the seven seas!Great gift idea, would be great for steampunk also.

I have always loved replica stuff like this, but sometimes replicas can seem cheap. This Replica Sextant does not look cheap - nor does the box it come in look cheap. This would make an absolutely fantastic gift for anyone with an interest in history or the sea. It's something you want left out for others to see and admire and ask about. Not only is the sextant good quality, but the box looks great too. Overall, I am very pleased with this item.
