I installed my horns on my semi and they are really loud even with the smaller factory air lines. Great value.

I bought this with a slight blemish, as this will not be mounted in sight. As other reviewers have stated, either use a better quality solenoid valve or a manual valve, and use larger diameter hoses where possible, to allow unrestricted airflow, and you'll unlock this horns full potential. I think even the hearing impaired will feel this one. ;o)

I live next to train tracks. I'd say it's almost perfectly tone matched to most of the trains that go by.At 110psi, it is significantly quieter than a real train, but still pretty loud, just below a firetruck horn. I havent tested at 180psi yet, but I'm already happy with it.NOTE: The trunpets screw into the base, but do not have anything locking them in besides a rubber washer. I am concerned that long term road vibrations and moderate use may make them work themselves loose and fall out after some months of driving. I wish there was a little more keeping the trumpets there, but time will tell if it's good enough.

I wanted to write a review the day I got these babies installed on the truck, but forced myself to wait so I could have a bit more info on durability as well. These puppies have been on my truck now for about 4 months and I absolutely love them. The install was nice and easy since I already have an onboard air system and oversized wheels and tires so I was able to just mount them where the spare tire used to be. Install time was maybe 45 min at most. The part that took the longest was deciding how I wanted to activate them [no joke] and once I decided, bing bang boom, the job was done. Now as far as noise level goes, ouch. First time I heard em' was by mistake during the wiring process and I was deaf for about 5 min after, not to mention the mini heart attack. Now as for the tone, it is slightly higher than a "true" train horn, however it is close, very close. Unless you are exceptionally familiar with train horns or are subject to hearing actual trains honk their horns on a regular basis, you won't even likely notice this. Really the only thing I have to say that isn't exceptionally positive, is that they seem to be slightly inconsistent at times. What I mean is that every once in a while they sound slightly higher pitched than usual or slightly quieter than usual. It's rare overall, but once you have them for a while [especially if they get used frequently] you will notice occasionally they sound just slightly different. I'm not sure if this is a solenoid issue, which would be my guess, or a diaphram issue. Since it is so inconsistent and fairly rare, I would assume it to be a solenoid issue, like maybe the solenoid sticks every once in a while just for a second. The other thing that comes to mind is "wet air". Seeing as I don't have a water separator or dryer onboard, I wonder if water build up against the solenoid is what causes this occasionall issue. Either way, overall, 10 out of 10 recommend this horn set up. It is seriously a great value for the price.

*** REVISED *** just over a year they horns are very intermittent sounding and sound SICK... Like they have a cold or something.. I'm going to attempt to take them apart and see if the diaphragm needs cleaned and if it helps. Mounted under the hood of my RAV4 faced down, but I guess water still gets into them. They are a little higher pitched than I would like. The air valve/switch for them is a tad leaky under pressure so watch that you have a relay on your compressor so that it won't run your battery down overnight, just in case. I'll switch it out sometime soon as I would prefer it not to run my tank down. The airline that came with the horns is not long enough. for anything. but It was cheap enough to get a 20' line. The horns are pretty big, so take that into account when getting them, as you need room to install them. Quality of the horns seems good, you might consider seperating them for a better mount. if you want to conceal them. I installed my in a RAV4 and they take up a lot of room under the grill.
