Volantex is light years ahead with its very tough plastic fuselage. They also have designers who understand airfoils, these are very tough to stall and they carve a thermal turn you’ll love. Spar design is also advanced with metal box spars which make for a very rigid wing even though its foam. Volantex plastic bodied birds are great. Ranger 2000 is another fave.

The fuselage is a five star. I have bought and flown Six Chinese made fommies. The electronics are so bad you can not give them a rating. I have lost two planes because of servo failure. One receiver lost a channel. Two were so under powered they would not lift off a dolly with a forty yard role.So you know! I have been building RC gliders, and now RC electric gliders for 26 years. The last count I have built well over 70 planes, Many cost well over $3,500 when quality electronic were installed. So? Why would I buy a plane at that price point? I moved from the CA coast just North of Torrey Pines State park. Very good glider flying. I now live on the side of a mountain in UT. I was not willing to risk my good gliders on first flights in an area of unknown wind conditions. We are talking down drafts and wind eddies around houses. The mountains are much different than a steady ocean wind?I have now pulled out all the electronics in three airframes, except the motors and have had very good luck with the air frames. The PHOENIX was finished last night with the extra cost. Four KST wing servos and two MKS minis, Jeti speed control, Jeti receiver, Jeti Motor battery 3300, Jeti receiver battery, extra carbon to stiffen the wing tips. $840 That is a lot? I now have a plane to be proud of and not worry it will end up in a tree or canyon.Hope this helped you.Up date! I connected the motor. There was a clicking sound at higher RPM's. Sounded like a bearing? That means I was unable to use any of the electronics. Add another $100 to cost. I would have been better off buying a bare bones carbon and glass model under $500. Installed all the same electronics. That will be the last. It is the old story. You get what you pay for. In this story you get nothing. They are easy to put together plane, but will end up a broken pile on the ground that will take two hot glue sticks to get back together.I can accept pilot hire? Learning to fly RC is difficult. Both my brother tried and could not learn. Mechanical failure should not be in that equation.

Would not even turn left. Foam is cheap and gets stuck. Way overpriced for what you get. Everything is low quality. Awful instructions, no training software at all. Not worth it. Bad boxing.Do yourself a favor and buy American and get an Aeroscout from an American company since ‘83 in IL. Quality is x5 at the same price. Reliably flies and handles like a dream. Training software, safe batteries, smart chargers, etc. Never going back, Horizon Hobby’s Aeroscout is a perfect first plane & all their planes are quality. Never going back. There planes hold their value.

This is a very well designed kit. It took an hour to put it together and a little longer to get a receiver and radio rigged right. Those weren’t included and the directions were kind of light but I figured it out.The plane flies really well. CG marks under the wings for battery placement. Predictable glide. Easy to control. I like it a lot.

Flies comparable to the eflite conscendo, much more durable and better build. The wing joining system is sturdy and seem to click out with the help of a knife, fairly easy. I spent about an hour and 2 flights on the first day, beach soaring with 20-30 mph winds and it handled it well, as is stock.I will be upgrading the servo's and motor, could use the weight of a 4s when it's that windy. Still cheaper and better build than the competitors like the Kunai and Conscendo IMO

PROsThe glider came perfectly packaged, double boxed!Easy to assemble out of the box 15-20 minutes. 5-10 minutes of field setup (insert spars and clip the wings to the fuselage and go.Strong climb rate on 3s 2200 battery. (5-10 minutes flying at the club field and around 30 minutes at the beach)Nice cabin for electronicsMy Setup (and could be much lighter);Spektrum AR637T with Spektrum 3s 2200It came with a foam camera mountable canopy that needs attention to the clip. Make sure it clips and use tape around the middle to help keep down the vibration. I have an Akaso Sportcam mounted on mine.Would be a nice platform for FPVConsCHEAP SERVOS; the rudder was the first to go and IN IT's MAIDEN FLIGHT! talk about a tricky landing!ALL control surfaces needed hinge tape as the foam hinge separated exposing the little plastic hinges.Servo AND battery tray are balsa ply and separated after 1 week. (fortunately I have a 3d printer and made my own trays)The Flaps have NO spar in them and need to have the servo moved to the middle of the flap.CG is forward and really needs attention if you are going to use a sport-cam. There is a little hole in the rear of the empennage that I use for weights.I would recommend this glider as a 2nd machine, however with a SMART setup a beginner can fly with ease. My advice would be to upgrade to all metal servos.

Easy build. Flies very nicely. It's not a floater, but still a great plane for the money. 1300 3s as far back as I could get it had the cg about right.Update: the 1300mah battery was only giving me about 3 minutes of motor run time. I didn't want to do the mod where the wheel and well is removed, so I made a light ply battery tray and installed it at an angle from the rear of the battery tray up and back against the front of the receiver tray. I'm now flying 2200 3s packs and it flys very well, with more flight time. A bit heavier, but worth it to me.
