This is a DC meter movement with lights for backlighting the scale. I just needed a small sensitive movement so didn't care about the VU scale. There are no legible tech specs provided with the meter -- just a paper label with Chinese writing on it. The label has text saying "500 uA". I measured the meter's full-scale deflection at 600 uA DC (or 0.6 mA). The label also says something about 12VDC and 50 mA. This could be referring to the LED lighting, however I measured that as 3 mA at 21 volts. A lower voltage might work for your application; just be aware that the brightness and current draw will both be lower. The meter housing cannot be opened to change the scale or anything else. There are 4 solder lug terminals on the rear; 2 for the scale lighting and 2 for the meter. They are unmarked except for polarity. See photo . . . the top pair is for the meter movement and the bottom pair is for the LED. If you want to use this meter for audio, you will need to use an external circuit to provide a calibration adjustment, audio rectification and possibly filtering. (although I didn't check, it's unlikely that this little movement has anything like the correct pointer ballistic characteristic required for a true VU meter). No idea what the seller claims of "vibration and static proof" could possibly refer to. Likely just some AI BS.
