I’m impressed with these. With another shooter on my right, I turn up the volume in my right ear. I can hear him talk and it even AMPLIFIES what he’s saying, like “range is clear, go ahead.” When I shoot 5.56, it protects my hearing without changing my ability to hear conversation. There are separate controls for each side, so I only turn up the side where the other guy is. But bottom line, these things are great. Very effective protection for your hearing and completely allows you to hear other sound at the same time. I used to use regular hearing protection muffs but you hear nothing. These are far better. These also have a higher protection rating than others for a slightly higher price.

I bought these for the increased 9x amplification and the 26 dB noise reduction to be used indoors without additional earplugs. I also did not need Bluetooth, AUX inputs, and the annoying external wires that come with that. I found my pair to be well constructed. I have a large head and they fit snugly, but not uncomfortably. If they did not fit snugly, they would slide down my head because of their weight. They are big and heavy, but that is to be expected at this level of noise reduction. The ear pads are large and should fit someone with large ears. The ear cups are even larger. It seams to me, that the defining maximum dimension should be the exterior size of the ear pad. Yet, almost all manufactures make their cups much larger, in this case almost 1/4 inch!. The result is an ear cup that hits the stock of most rifles making it difficult and uncomfortable to get a good check weld! So, I will be using these indoors only with handguns. For a rifle, I will go back to my Caldwells and double up with ear plugs, as they are more comfortable and don't hit the stock, but the electronics are garbage. The electronics in these Walkers are claimed to be 9x and they do have a lot of gain, but the signal to noise ratio is dreadful! The loud back ground 'hiss' drowns out the subtle noises you want to hear and defeats the purpose of the amplification. The muting is faster than the Caldwells, but still lets in harmful noise. There is a market for a good affordable basic amplified earmuff without the bells and whistles. But, these are an old design that needs to be updated.

I already owned 2 of these Walker's brand power muffs that are 4 years old. They were expensive at the time but were the best on the market. One of them broke on a trip; the head strap cracked.I needed a replacement for our next trip and after reading reviews, purchased these. I'm glad I did! Technology has improved and so has the price. They outperformed their older model by being more streamlined and folding better for packing. They are a little lighter and the head strap adjustment is a little better, as well.We shot continuously for 4 days and no-one had ear pain or headaches. Highly recommend.

Great cancellation, I use for indoor shooting especially. At my range the fan noise comes through as mild static over the speakers, but that's to be expected. Excellent product.

This Product Review is written by my husband who requested this Hearing Protection as a gift to replace "Peletor Sound-Trap" ear Muffs which he uses for shooting a 40 caliber Smith & Wesson M&P in an indoor range. The Walkers Game Ear has a reaction time of 0.02 seconds and a noise reduction rating of 27dB. The Sound Protection is better on the Walkers Game Ear then the Peletor Sound-Trap. To insert the batteries in the Sound-Trap the Sealing Rings that are attached to each side of the Ear Muff must be removed. Changing batteries in the Sound Trap is very difficult and it is very easy to damage the Sealing Rings when removing them. This is a very poor design for a battery compartment in an Ear Muff. The Walkers Game Ear has a Battery Compartment on each side of the Ear Muff with a cover that can be easily removed without the need of removing the Sealing Rings. The Walkers also has significantly better amplification for hearing speech; which is a necessity when listening to a Range Officer speak during Qualification. The Walker Ear Muffs are slightly larger then the Peletor Sound-Trap. The slightly larger size is NOT uncomfortable over several hours of shooting at the Gun Range. Overall, if you are Law Enforcement; Border Services; or an Armoured Guard employee, the Walkers Game Ear GWP-XPMB are highly recommended over the Peletor Sound-Trap when shooting your handgun or shotgun during Range Qualification.

These are great muffs. I use them at the indoor range only. Mutes my 357 Magnum rounds perfectly. Once I started shooting these rounds, others at the range started looking up at me bc the noise was so loud, I think many of them wear wearing lower rated muffs and seemed startled. Not with these muffs, it really mutes the noise, while allowing other noises (e.g. talking) to be crystal clear. You can hear others loading their rounds, shells drop on the floor, conversations greatly.I'm glad I got these. They seem to seal well with eye protection. I wear them on top of my baseball cap, and the seem to have room left for larger heads. They fold up really nice and compact as well, not taking up much space in my range bag.The only thing I found was that the frequency tuning didn't seem to do much for me. I don't really notice a difference when I tune them either direction. Not exactly sure what it's supposed to be doing. Description could be a bit better I guess.I like the fact that there are two volume knobs, one on each side. In case one ear works different than another, or depending on who's shooting what on either side of you, you can then control one side independently.I am going to buy a second one for my wife.

Pretty good for it's price range. Surprised it has just one AA batt for each side but I will see how it lasts. My radians have 3 batts each side with a lot higher adjustable volume if you want? The headband is comfortable with or without hat. But, these do reduce the gunshot decibels much better and seem pretty safe without ear plugs---which I hate (makes me feel like walking with underwear in my crack).......
