Our Watts Premier Reverse Osmosis system (4-stage RO-Pure) would "run" for hours and hours refilling/recycling and our plumber told us it would do that when the filters needed changing. Replacing the filters didn't help. Plumber said if that doesn't make it run less, you'll need a whole new unit ($277 on Amazon). Frustrated from listening to it run all day, I Googled "what makes a RO system run constantly" and Walla! 1st thing that came up was the auto-shutoff needs replacing. Installed ourselves- double check your hose size, make sure the valve direction is installed right, and use the blue clips on the connections and you'll have no problem. We had a leak in a different place, so we watched the area like a hawk, and no leaks from the valve. The black connectors behind it (Amazon TAILONZ PNEUMATIC Blue Straight 1/4 inch Tube OD Push to Connect Tube Fittings Push Lock PU-1/4) also worked great replacing the leaky white plastic ones the plumber had installed. Just because they're a certified plumber doesn't mean they know about specifics on non-traditional plumbing issues. Definitely a do-it-yourself install.
