Alpaca fleece is a 100% sustainable fiber shorn annually from alpacas. It is cozy, soft and durable - strong and elastic, so it will not break or loose shape easily. Alpaca is thermally superior to all other natural fibers; warmer than sheep's wool, while being far more breathable. It is not irritating, itchy or prickly - wonderful for delicate and sensitive skin. Alpaca contains no lanolin which is the main cause of allergic reactions. It is naturally water-repellent and noncombustible.

Alpacas - What you need to know.
Alpacas have no natural defenses and depend on humans for care and protection. There are no such thing as a wild alpaca, rather they have been tended for hundreds of years. Alpacas need to have their fleece shorn annually to insure their health and wellbeing.
Alpacas originated in the Andean mountains of South America but more than 40 years ago alpacas began finding new homes across the globe. There are several million alpacas worldwide with 94 percent living in South America. There are more than 200,000 alpacas in the USA, 350,000 in Australia and 45,000 in the UK.
The alpacas' fleece, or wool, evolved to keep them warm in the high, arid, Altiplano, where it is common to have vast temperature changes from negative numbers well into the 70's , within 24 hours. This fiber evolution is what makes alpaca wool so wonderful to wear today.

Awful. We had beautiful soft socks from the same brand for my son when he was an infant. I had high hopes for these. They felt scratchy even on my hands…we are still on the hunt for well made Alpaca socks. These will not be it!

High quality, nice thin alpaca wool sock. Very soft (not scratchy) and our toddler has been wearing them for at least two fall/winter seasons now. They were long on him last year but still comfortable and now they fit perfectly (he is 3). They are my favorite socks for him because of the natural, soft material, and adorable design, and he loves them too. The grippers on bottom help keep him from slipping on the hardwood and tile. Now that they are back in stock we ordered another pair in his size and next size up.

Very cute socks. However, the size is way off. I ordered size 2-5 for my 15 months old son, but it’s way too big for him.
