So glad I decided on this rower! I shopped for all types, water, fan, and magnetic and after a week of comparing decided on this as the best value. ( I’ve only ever used a fan type rower in the gym.) I used the split payments of around $38, and justified that as what I’d pay to go to the gym, right!?I used to teach Tabata-HIIT, and I paddle board regularly, but with covid-19 I’ve had to stop teaching classes and of course no gyms. :( the weather is finally starting to get too cool in CA for paddling and this is PERFECT for my small condo! Stores out of the way nicely and looks great, also comes with a cover if I needed to put it on my balcony for more room. VERY easy to lift into upright position as the weight is all in the bottom when filled, and pretty easy to roll around. (Tip tighten down the wheels, then back out on the nuts about a half turn till the wheels roll freely)I’m a 53 year old single mom, and it took me about 30 min to assemble by myself. If you have assembled any furniture from target you can easily do this. Instructions are straightforward. I listened to other reviewers and plugged in the pump before I started assembly and it worked great. Probably would have taken less time if I had a bigger container to fill the water from, I used a large mixing bowl from my kitchen and I think I refilled it 4-5 times. Looking forward to getting off the 10 lbs I earned by lazing around too much and baking bread and cookies “for the kids” 😁If you row correctly you’ll feel it in your core, legs, arms, and back; great full body workout!I’m average 5’5” and 125lbs, feels very sturdy and solid for me and also for my 5’10 185 lb son. He’s online learning, and it’s a perfect diversion to get off the video games.I was afraid a smaller metal frame one wouldn’t feel as stable and enjoyable for him. It’s great!

This rower is definitely a consumer machine. The rowing resistance is similar to having oars partially in the water. The rower is more than adequate addition to home gym and coupled with rowing videos on YouTube provides exercise and interest. Shipping was fast, about one week. Assembly by one person was easy although challenging. As an engineer I am aware of good manufacturing in China, but when they use cheap parts the outcome is a challenge. The "solid wood" is correct by modern standards of furniture description. It is veneer over engineered wood. Too many people are falsely believing in solid "natural wood" products. Engineered wood adapts well to manufacturing and is stronger than natural when used appropriately. This machine only uses through bolts into steel threaded inserts, so there is no fatigue imparted to the wood members. (Inappropriate uses threaded screws into the engineered wood which eventually fail from vibrational stress. Think of low end kitchen cabinets.) The mating surfaces of the threaded inserts and screws are too tight in tolerance making them easy to strip (cross thread) and difficult to tighten. I suggest using screw wax on threads to start. The little pump for water fill is good but the silicone hoses come kinked in packaging. I suggest straightening them while pump charges and soaking in warm water. Also be careful connecting the hose to the outlet steel tube without first wetting or you risk tearing the silicone. In summary, the manufacturing is good, the unit is solid and adequate for home, assembly is relatively easy and price point is very good for the quality.

If you're looking for a solid water-rower to add to your fitness and fun efforts I would highly recommend this machine. Before spending money on the more expensive, original wood water rowers I would suggest Mr Captain. Solid company, solid machine. Love the sound of water when I row, very peaceful.While it's likely not solid wood vs wood veneer it's a solid piece of equipment. Easy to put together, I did it myself and I'm a female severely lacking in body strength (thus the need for the rower). Comes with everything you need to put it together. The little water pump that comes with it works great too.A few pro-tips to make assembly easier and faster as the directions are clear but in a sense more so once you've actually figured it out.Unbox your pump first and use the supplied USB cable to charge the pump. You'll need it fully charged to add the water.1) Screw set comes with EXTRA screws so the counts don't match up - don't let it throw you2) When you screw in the Rear Spacer make sure the latch with the bungee attached is on the BOTTOM (Step 1 image will throw you off otherwise)3) Use both allen keys at the same time (one to hold one side of the screw in place while using the other to screw the opposite screw more tightly4) On the water dispenser (pump) insert/srcew-in the side of the little metal pipe that has the attached tiny piece of silicone at the tip to the angled hole on the back of the pump. Then, carefully attach the two silicone hoses to 1) the other end of the metal pipe and 2) to the underneath of the pump.5) The black, plastic pieces called "Stoppers" that come encased with all the screws? Those screw-in where noted and end up being what keeps the handle in place when you're not rowing so don't sweat that they're not covered much in the instructions6) When you go to insert the foot pads, note that the "button" you push is the oval plastic piece between the two straps already attached to the foot board. It's super easy to push the inserts in providing you're pushing the entire button in and not just at the top or bottom.Shipping was very fast and both boxes they came in made it easy to lift to an area to set up.
