The product is super slippery so the duvet moves around substantially in your duvet cover and is constantly bunching. The covers adds significant temperature to the bed - literally makes you sweat. I was hoping this would be a solution to an older dog issue but definitely not.

Excellent protection! We have a cat who has decided to show his displeasure with us by urinating on our bed, usually in the wee hours of the morning. We have a waterproof mattress cover, but that entails washing the comforter, all the sheets and the mattress cover. So I thought I would try this to see how it would work out. I purchased a lightweight down comforter to place inside and an inexpensive duvet cover to go over it. We had our first accident this morning and it worked perfectly! I could tell there was an issue from the weight on my foot, so I slowly got out of bed and felt the top duvet cover and it was damp. I don't know how long it had been like that, but the cat was no where to be seen so it wasn't immediate. We carefully stripped off the top duvet and then mopped up the remaining liquid on the Floppy Ears duvet. I think the only flaw in this design is that it is not really absorbent, so the liquid pools up on it and can spill off if you aren't careful. But nothing spilled off and I was able to relatively easily untie the internal comforter without making a mess and remove it. This was the first time we haven't needed to fully strip the bed and do two loads of laundry! As far as the breathability goes, it really isn't that great - but it is hard to comment just on this because I had a second duvet cover and a light down comforter inside. My regular duvet cover didn't have anywhere to tie in the corners, so this slipped around a lot inside - this was our first use so I am going to remedy that after washing. I think we will try just the Floppy Ears duvet inside the regular duvet for the next try since it is summer. In the winter we will need more warmth from the comforter. My husband was a little daunted by the complexities of untying and unzipping, but it is so much easier than washing everything (and getting wet ourselves!) - he just needs to actually use the products himself once and he won't have any issues. The zipper opening was very large and easily allowed me to place the comforter inside without much difficulty. The ties are long and easy to use, very convenient that there are ties on both the inside and outside.I highly recommend this if you have pets or little ones that tend to have accidents on your beds. A great upgrade would be to improve the absorbency of it.

Sorry, but this is NOT breathable. I hesitated to buy this because many of the reviews were already stating that putting this cover on your comforter would make your bed into a sauna. But my cat kept peeing on the bed and I had to throw away two brand new down comforters. I was desperate. I thought that maybe some of those reviewers were just extra sweaty people so I gave it a try despite the ridiculously high price. The manufacturer made an effort to make this breathable by inserting mesh strips along the edges of the cover. Unfortunately, those mesh strips do nothing. I used the cover for about a week before it became unbearable. The beauty of a good down comforter is that it adjusts temperature all by itself. No use in having one if you add this cover. I also took off the duvet cover which was on top of the "breathable" cover in hopes that this would decrease the heat factor. It did not. I finally gave up and took the cover off altogether. On another note, the king size waterproof cover is a good deal smaller than a king size comforter so with this cover on, my comforter was reduced in size so that the edges only went to the edges of the bed and did not hang over. That was another annoyance. If you must have a waterproof cover, get one of the cheaper ones that does not tout "breathability." This one does not have it.

We foster dogs so accidents are a way of life here. After the last pile of vomit on my down comforter, I resolved to find a waterproof cover for it. After much research, I found this duvet cover. I was a bit taken aback by it's price (especially since there was no reviews yet) but in looking into other Floppy Ears Design products I decided to give it a chance.I'm really impressed by this cover! It has a nice soft feel to it and fit my duvet perfectly. The gussets on the sides let the air flow out to prevent the cover from having a balloon effect. As a result, there is a small strip down each side that is not waterproof. I figure it's a rather small area and not likely to be hit by accidents. I think it's an acceptable trade off.I love the fact that it has ties not only on the inside to keep your duvet in place, but also on the outside so you can tie it to a decorative duvet cover. We used to have a problem with the duvet sliding all over the place. Not anymore! This is a high quality, well designed product and I think it was worth the price.

I have now owned this product for 3ish months? Our dogs sleep on the bed everyday. The duvet keeps the comforter clean and indeed appears to be waterproof. Although the product is advertised as breatheable, the only breatheability to the comforter is 2 inches of air holes along the seam all the way around the comforter. The duvet basically has two solid square pieces of waterproof material, which are sewn together with the 2-3 inch mesh. I find the comforter to be very hot with the duvet on. I actually found it too hot for the entire month of September and most of October. Now that it is getting colder (in November), I absolutely love the extra warmth. Another feature I like is that it has ties both on the inside and on the outside to attach the waterproof duvet to your comforter AND tto your decorational duvet. It keeps it in place nicely.

The duvet cover works as it is definitely waterproof, but with this cover on the bed, it is way too hot - it is no breathable at all. Not sure there is a lot you can do to remedy that problem as obviously breathability and water resistance don't go together. Overall, it does what it says it is going to but is quite uncomfortable.
