After experiencing a 3 for 3 failure rate with the leading low cost hard drive vendor, I purchased 3 WD Ultrastar DC HC580 WUH722424ALE6L4 drives five months ago and I have had no issues with them. The Ultrastar line was acquire from Hitachi who acquired the line from IBM. I have purchased over 50 Ultrastar drives in the last 16 years and have experienced virtually no failures. To maximize reliability, I recommend keeping drives powered on and spinning and cooled with ample airflow.

the disk is suprisingly quiet in operation. the screw holes on the bottom of the drive are are oddly placed.after formatting the drive it is 22Tb, a small note the disk is not 24TB as the IT industry no longer seems to know that 1000GB is not 1TB, 1024GB is 1TB hence the drive which shows as 22351.98 GB after initialising as GPT is not 24563GB which is what 24TB equates to, obviously the disk size after formatting is smaller but a loss of 2TB's seems excessive.

Hard disk molto capiente, posso mettere tranquillamente le mie foto in raw ed ho ancora moltissimo spazio. Veloce e silenzioso. Ottimo acquisto.

Fantastic drive! Even though it is not the best of ideas regarding backing up, I use it to back up a NAS "just in case". Runs cool and quiet and what more can you ask for?

The drive was packaged well and arrived promptly with no delays, both smart tests and benchmarks indicates it's new and working well, only thing to note with ntfs In windows in use will show 22tb while device Info and bios will show the correct 24tb in gigabytes. Os will show a slightly differnt number then 24 due to how it represents the drive number but will have same capacity for use. Would buy again in near future

These drives are very good, but this is the first time I've used a 24TB one, and I have to say it is significantly louder than the 18TB or 14TB versions. I did not expect that
