My husband is happy with the quality of this welding blanket. It's very heavy and sturdy and so far has worked well to protect painted surfaces that I'm welding next too. The slag and sparks from welding haven't damaged the material so far.The material is very thick and is heavy enough to stay in place despite the wind while he is welding on something outside. The edges are hemmed well but grommets on the end seem undersized and weak. If you had it tied down and the wind caught it, the grommets would probably rip right out of it. Because of this I reduced the rating by one star. One thing to note is that the description describes it as 4 x 6 inches but it is clearly a typo as the blanket is actually 4 x 6 feet.

Solid heavy blanket to contain the sparks. Just what I need if for - my occasional welding projects. Definitely large enough for my purposes and the grommets to hang it up are a nice touch but that's the one thing I'm not impressed with . The grommets do look like they're pretty low end and that the'll not likey stay in long. I do have a grommet kit, however, and I'll likely be replacing the originals with something more heavy duty. Other than that, a very nice blanket

This welding blanket is a good weight/thickness of fabric. I typically use these to either hang and separate the work area I'm welding in, or to lay on the glass of the vehicle I'm working on to minimize the possibility of sparks/slag damaging windows. At 4'x6' it is a really nice size for those uses (the description states inches, but it is actually 4x6 feet). I have not tried to light this thing on fire, but it feels like it will be a durable blanket. There are seams stitched around the whole blanket - they're about 1/2", not the 1" stated on the package but I'm not too concerned about that as long as they hold up alright.

I was genuinely surprised at how nice this thing actually is. It's made of a heavyweight fiberglass woven fabric that you can lay down and (unless it's a really windy day), it will generally stay put right where you left it. It works phenomenally well at arresting any sparks and catching spatter and slag. Obviously, it is fiberglass, so use the appropriate protection for your skin, eyes, and lungs.I have a small garage shop and don't have a dedicated area for welding, so this is perfect for somebody like me. I just drape it over all my stuff, get busy welding, then fold it back up and put it away for next time.

This is a good size welding blanket to use to protect sensitive items near where you are welding. It is not so large that it takes up a bunch of room when not in use.It is made from heavier fiberglass, fairly thick, rather heavy. It is flexible and drapes over items loosely, allowing it to give better protection.I did not have any issues with any areas that wanted to hold themselves up at a fold and allow sparks to travel behind the blanket. It has some nice eyelets to hang it or tie it down, only one of the eyelets had loose fibers showing around it.I did see some loose fibers stuck to the surface, it could probably use some vacuuming when new to pick them up and keep them from floating around in the air.

Got these not just for welding but for protection when I am soldering and brazing copper pipe. The package label says brass eyelets. Those aren't brass. The package also says 1 inch hems. Those are not 1 inch. The hem stitching melts instantly when hit with flame and the hem comes apart.I tested it with my small Lincoln 120VAC MIG on high with flux core wire. The slag burns the blanket and some slag melted right through. The hot part scorched it good too. I also tested it with open flame from a butane torch and it burns right through as well. The only way these will work is if they are folded when using them and even then, I'm not so sure I would trust them to protect a flammable surface.

Good quality welding blankets. Edges are sewn well and eyelets are firmly in place. The fiberglass cloth itself is top quality, with a very nice slick feel and no fraying or prickly fibers. These are great for more than welding use,for instance to insulate water heater, bbq grills, smokers, etc. Good stuff!
