About this item

  • Cap and rotor sends high secondary current to the proper ignition wire
  • OE equivalent materials, which promote longer product life
  • Provides superior performance and reliability
  • Fast and easy installation

The Wells Vehicle Electronics Distributor Cap and Rotor Kit is designed to meet or exceed OE (Original Equipment) specifications in form, fit and function. It also decreases the chance for error by preventing confusion on what cap goes with what rotor. A distributor cap passes voltage from the ignition coil to the spark plug to ignite the air/fuel mixture in the engine's cylinders, making the power necessary to move the vehicle. The Wells Vehicle Electronics distributor cap and rotor send high secondary current to the proper ignition wire. When not replaced, a vehicle may experience CEL (Check Engine Light)/MIL (Malfunction Indicator Lamp) illumination, misfire, internal engine damage, high fuel consumption, loss of power and/or failed emissions test. Every component either matches or improves on the OE design to ensure fast, easy installation, superior performance and reliability.

My 1993 Toyota Previa with 303,000 miles on the odometer died while driving into the garage at home. This car has never failed to start or run so this problem was a first. I started the troubleshooting procedure in the workshop manual and found the fuel system okay but the ignition spark was coming out of the coil, but not out of the spark plug "cords" as Toyota describes them in the manual. I didn't even know this vehicle had a cap and rotor until I removed the distributor cap to find that the rotor had disintegrated and damaged the cap in the process. Looking on Amazon I found this set and ordered it. It arrived promptly as Amazon orders usually do and it fits perfectly. The Previa now runs as well as it always has and after 1500 miles on the new cap and rotor, everything is fine. Thank you, Amazon and the supplier who offers this part. Sometimes older vehicles are hard to find service parts for but not this time!

Seems to be great! It came with screws for the distributor cap itself, but I had to reuse the screws from the old rotor. Including the rotor screws would have garnered that fifth star.As an aside, the 2TZ-FZE is the first engine I've ever had where the distributor cap is screwed down instead of held in with spring clips, and where the rotor itself is held by screws instead of by friction/spring tension. I would recommend that for both the rotor and cap to tighten the screws like you would with head bolts or lug nuts, to ensure that everything is perfectly mated to the mating surface. Tightening one screw all the way down at a time is a recipe for a rotor that will wobble, or a cap with undue strain.
