From the Manufacturer

Westbrass was founded in 1935 by two brothers, to serve the needs of all plumbing wholesalers on the West Coast. The product lines at the time included items such as faucets, valves, malleable fittings, etc. After becoming the premier distributor of plumbing products, the company was bought in 1985 by Max Homami. Seeing a boom in the Home Improvement Industry, Mr. Homami had a vision to make Westbrass the leader in Kitchen & Bath Accessories.
The company currently manufactures its own products made of the highest quality materials. In order to ensure the excellence in the industry, these products are made to pass the highly stringent requirements of NSF, IAPMO, ADA and many other regulations. The Los Angeles-based company now sells a wide range of Plumbing Specialty Products, Bath Waste & Overflows, as well as Decorative Kitchen & Bath Accessories worldwide.
Westbrass holds several patented items including the Deep Soak Overflow designed for extra-deep soaking in most bathing-wells, the Closing Linear overflow and several other intellectual properties. The customer base includes kitchen & bath showrooms, plumbing wholesalers and supply houses, OEM and ODM companies, as well as several national home centers.

I took a chance that the photo was wrong and the description was right. I got lucky. The cap finish is actually satin nickel and made of metal.

The original faucet and air gap were contractor grade, with the air gap vent chromed plastic. Once I upgraded the kitchen faucet it was apparent the air gap vent cap was going to have to go too. This unit is heavy chromed brass. Looks much better that the flaking plastic chrome of the original. The plastic tubing and fittings are high quality.

So far this is holding up well. It wasn’t the easiest to install though. In order to prevent water leaking around the gasket, I had to tighten the nut quite a bit. This causes the gasket to mushroom out a bit, and so the cap wouldn’t push down all the way flush to the counter. To fix the fit, I used a razor blade to trim a little extra around the gasket, and then I was able to push the cap down flush. Now, it looks good and is leak free.

Attractive design and finish. Straight forward installation. Unit has a fairly soft gargling sound when dishwasher water is draining, as do most other air gap units. Would purchase again if the need would arise.

Replaced the old airgap as all the seals were blown and it was looking rough. This installed easy and works exactly as it should.

I went to Home Depot and couldn't not find it. Great product! Well made. It didn't come with instructions but was self explanatory .

My dishwasher started having trouble draining from time to time. I thought about calling a repair service or buying a new air gap. Instead, I disconnected the air gap and took it apart (there are two pieces under the metal cap, one which snaps into the other) and found a clog of material inside the smaller tube. I rinsed it all out and now it works fine. I'm really glad I thought about this, and wanted to share it with others.Besides that, the air gap is doing what it's supposed to be doing.

Easy to install, looks great. Only issue is, like them all, Apart from the stainless cover it’s fully made in plastic so it doesn’t have strength on the threads, so use a light hose to the garbage disposal otherwise It’ll bend the threads.
