I did not like the idea of leaving the welds exposed once I removed the factory rock rails. To hide the this, I applied a textured vinyl wrap to the cut line at the base of the Jeep. The U-bolt is the weak link in this install. Also when the instructions tell you to remove the 18mm bolts from the body, don’t back them out fully. You can slide the step bracket onto the large washers to support the step during installation. I have had them on for one day, but no squeaking currently. They are sturdy.

The installation of these was pretty painless.One caveat is the u shaped bolt is pretty easy to snap. I attempted to follow the torque specs and snapped the bolt off on one side. I contacted Westin and requested a replacement, which was sent and in my hands within a couple of days.The steps themselves are very sturdy, look great and make getting in and out of the jeep a lot easier.

I installed these on a 2019 JLU Rubicon. I had to remove the factory sliders for these to fit. I used a motorcycle lift to get them in place. A transmission jack would also work, otherwise, I would recommend getting a friend to assist with the install. I did not remove the body bolts. I was able to slightly tilt it and push it into place. I completed the install in about 1.5 hours from getting the tools to putting them away.I like the way they look and they provide a nice platform for my (shorter than me) wife to get in and out. I expect they will perform as well as the stock sliders. I’ll update this review if they do not.I don’t like that the pinch weld is now visible. I didn’t hear any noise on my test ride.

Looking at getting steps for my wife’s JLU Jeep Wrangler I didn’t want just a running board but we needed a step and needed protection when off-roading. These are about perfect for both. They aren’t a “true” rock slider that wraps under the body but do bolt to the Jeep’s frame/body mounts and not the pinch welds. Built sturdy and mounting brackets are made heavy along with the rest of it. No flex after install. Haven’t tried them out on rocks but think they well do fine for the trails this will see. Only thing I didn’t like was the front mounting bolt and how it slips in a slotted hole but they do give you an extra hole to drill in your frame if you want to sturdy it up more which I did.

These do not mount to the main big body bolts. They only mount to the smaller body bolts. So they can't provided super strong protection, but they will provide better protection than the little black slider that comes on the stock Jeep since they do mount to the body and frame mount points and not directly to the body like the stock slider does.I did the install in about 1.5 hours by myself and without reading instructions. You do not need to take off the big body bolts on the frame. If you set the rail on your chest and slide back, you can slide the mounts on it right over those bolts without taking them off. I did it by myself and it only took me about three minutes to figure it out.The only "instruction" you really need is to put the U bolt in the front part of the frame first. You can't do that after you get the rock rails up and in place. Yah.. I learned that one the hard way.I like these. My only real complaints are:1. It isn't clear from the product description these only provide moderate protection since they don't mount to the main body bolts. Which is fine enough for my needs since I"m not that hard core, but I would like that to have been an informed decision rather than luck.2. I wish the mounts made room for the stock sliders to stay in place to provide a better look. I'll probably paint the unfinished portion of the body black to match the rock rails and to seal up any unprotected metal.

Steps are plenty strong and sturdy. Bolt up was pretty simple with two people. Had a really bad squeak after install, but was just a matter of adjusting the positioning by an eighth of an inch.They do not however really keep any road grime off the side of the jeep like I hoped.

Love these rails. Two comments on installation: 1) you need to unscrew the Jeep body bolts to install the rails, which have been installed with lock-tight at the factory. I was unable to unscrew the body bolts and had my dealer install the rails. Others have reported breaking the body bolts trying to unscrew them. 2) The installation holes allow for a bit of adjustment. If you install them touching the frame, you may hear a constant squeak. A slight adjustment away from the frame will eliminate the squeak.
