My husband built this little sitting place in our garden. We got this weathervane because we liked the style and price. Its sturdy. We are using it for decoration, although it is a working piece and we like that! I think it really adds a little charm to our little house.

We wanted to make our diy chicken coop and run look nice in our backyard. The weathervane was sun a nice/fun touch! We centered it over the 4'x4' coop section. We were doubtful it would be functional due to it's weight (nice and heavy), but have been surprised to see it in different positions a few times! It was a great dinal touch for our new backyard hobby!Included an image of installation for size comparison.

I got this weather vane for a decoration on the top of our chicken coop. It is terribly cute! It was a great price for the size / quality. It is not all that accurate as a weathervane (maybe needs more grease?), but that's not really what I intended it for so no worries! It installed easily.

I bought a similar item awhile back for the barn (with a horse) and was pleased with its size and construction. I recently built a chicken coop to house the wife's latest hobby and soon thereafter I found this item on Amazon. It looks great and the wife was tickled. WARNING: When you build a chicken coop, and buy the chickens, and buy the feeding dishes, and buy food and other treats, and buy the heated water dish so that the water doesn't freeze during the winter, and pay for the electricity for the heated water dish and heating lamp during the winter, THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS FREE EGGS! But I digress.....

A very well made item that functions well. HOWEVER...I contacted the manufacturer for a recommendation for proper installation of the weathervane...and I was VERY disappointed with their reply! Their reply stated that I should contact a roofing professional. I can understand their desire to take NO liability for a leaky roof...but if the manufacturer of an item can't make a recommendation on the proper installation of their product, then who can?

I have to be honest, though, it's not actually up on the gable yet. I bought it to go on top of a chicken coop I recently had built. It's supposed to sit atop the cupola. But, as things go, my neighbor, who took a while to finish the coop, may never actually finish the cupola. So, until then, the weathervane is in the garage. But, before it went in the garage, it spent a few days outside. The finish on the weathervane is smooth and thick so I don't foresee any problems with rusting or corrosion. It's very pretty and for the price I paid, I am perfectly pleased. The only question i have is whether it will actually tell me the direction the wind is blowing. I'm not sure how easily it rotates. We'll see.

Looked everywhere for this item and nobody carries these in stock anymore around here. Hardware store can not even order it. Finally went on line and found exactly what I was looking for at a good price. I ordered 2, one for me & one for a friend. Items arrived within a week. I am very happy with the service and the quality of this item.

Finding an old-fashioned weather vane that is affordable (most are in the hundreds of dollars) can be like finding a needle in the proverbial haystack. I was glad to find this one. It was easy to assemble. We mounted to a corner deck rail, using a compass to orient it. We've been very pleased. It stays outside year round and we've not had to repaint or maintain it in any way.
