I got this for a glass bottle I have had since I was a child and have no idea where the bottle came from (probably laboratory). I have stored some shells, coral, and rocks in it and thought it would be nice for display. This cork fits it well and looks good on display. It was hard to find the right size as this "Size X" stuff appears to be almost arbitrary (no online charts match what I found on Amazon). If I recall, my bottle has a tapered opening of about 1 3/8" at the top/widest. This stopper fits down to the narrowest part and sticks out the top.This feels like a much lower density cork than that of a wine bottle. I am doubtful it would be very good at sealing.

We were making a Rube Goldberg machines and several experiments required corks. I'm sure some people have them laying around, but we don't. The variety worked well because we had no idea what sizes we'd need. We ended up making a cork gun out of some duct tape some tubing and a bicycle pump, and the kids laughed their heads off.I have no idea if these would work to actually cork something, but I suspect so.

Marginal quality cork at best. Ordered 12 of these and only about half created a seal. Not looking for a pressure seal for fermentation; simply looking for something that doesn't leak. Unlike the picture, they are so riddled with grooves and holes that you are lucky to find one that will create a seal at the position where it meets the glass jar. A smoother surface (i.e. better quality cork) would solve this problem.Also, within two weeks of use I notice they are gradually giving off little cork crumbles each time I release the cork. Hopefully this will stop soon.Still, I'm happy to have found them and hope they will remain available until I can find a better quality alternative.

I have looked for some time to replace cork stopper that was missing from an 5 gallon old stone crock that I have. It was perfect fit and with care should last for years.
