Type of Flies

There are three main types of flies: dry flies, nymphs, and streamers. Dry flies float on the surface of the water and imitate the adult form of aquatic insects such as mayflies, grasshoppers, ants, beetles, or mice. Nymphs sink beneath the surface and imitate the immature form of insects. Streamers are designed to look like baitfish, and are used to attract larger predators. Hook Size
When it comes to choosing the right hook size for fishing, there are a few things to keep in mind. First, you need to consider the type of fish you're hoping to catch. The bigger the fish, the bigger the hook should be. Second, you need to match the size of your fly with the weight of your line. The heavier the line, the larger the fly needs to be in order to avoid being pulled under. Finally, you also need to take into account the type of water you'll be fishing in. If you're fishing in a fast-moving river, for example, you'll need a heavier hook so that it can stand up to the current. Bought these cause I was in a pinch for bass flies. Size 10 is just not big enough for bass and lost probably 25-30% of my fish because of this. Not the company's fault but I wish they offered larger sizes. The main downside of these were the quality. One bass later and it was pretty much a guarantee that the fly was falling apart. For $1.75 a fly its kind of hard to complain but most flies in this price range should still hold up to several fish. Probably wouldn't buy them again.

This pack of flies came in great time and each look identical and are tied really well. As for the pattern…you can’t go wrong with a beaded woolybugger as an overall attractor pattern. I catch a good variety of fish on these in my neighborhood lake; bluegill, sunfish, bass and even catfish….
